1) The Leysons stayed, because there were rumours that Jews that left were being shot at the border. Even though it was a rumour, it could of been true, so they decided not to go. A minor reason they didn't go, was the that they, thought that their work statues might protect them.
2) I agree with this decision, mainly because I wouldn't want to risk being shot. Especially, right when I thought that I might of be free from the Germans.
3) I would of done the same thing. I would of first waited to hear any news about it. Then if I heard that people escaped, I also would leave the city. But, like in the book, if I heard negative news about the situation, I would of stayed like the Leysons.

A1) The Leysons stayed in Karkow because they did not want to be harmed by the Germans. The Germans threatened to kill the Jews if they were to leave Karkow. There were even rumors about how Jews did die beacuse they tried to leave.
A2) I do agree with the decision because I think it is more safe to stay then leave because if they leave they have of a more possibility to die and get shot. I would not want that for them any day.
A3) I would have stayed beacuse even though rumors may not be true they can be real. I would have a huge urge to leave but, I would be confident and stay. I would stay with my family and friends so I have my mind off of the news. If my family and friends decide they want to go and leave Karkow, I would try my best to convince them to stay and inform them about the rumors.

And they are smart for doing that, they have a very high chance of death while escaping.
3)Like is said, I would stay for my safety. I don't want to be killed, even at this age, We don't stand a chance against a armed militia. And even some rumors are fake, I don't want to take a very high risk chance. I would have been smart about this and do what they Leysons did. Stay at home.

Also they have a way of living since his dad works at one of the buildings in the main city. Which always they to be in the city of Krakow.
3) If I was put in the same position, I would move to another location because I don't know how to speak german and I would rather live a decent/not concentrated life. I would rather die, then be mistreated or hurt knowing that it won't end soon.

The reason the family stayed there is because it was all a trick; the people left were sent to go to the concentration camps, and also the Leyson family has a living there, work and an apartment. I agree that they did this, as why would you want to work is a concentration camp, do you want to die? I would also do the same things as at least having a place to live and a small apartment in a city will be better than surviving by hard labor, and even after all the work in a camp, you still will feel hungry after your earnings of food.
