Family is a significant part of my identity, and will always be. This is because, ever since I was a toddler, in a troller amused by construction, pouting and shouting to now me playing sports and learning more and more, my family has always been by my side.

At the age of three my mom would always push me to the World Financial Center in my large, comforting stroller. This would always be the highlight of my day, as we watched construction workers build the World Trade Center. We would sit for countless hours as glass and building materials would be lifted hundreds of feet in the air by monstrous crains and trucks. My mom would hug me and pace the stroller back and forth until I would rest my eyes and fall asleep. After my lengthy nap my dad, mom, and I would all go out to a restaurant. It was usually the same place every-night, PJ Clarks was the name. My mom and dad would dance and smile with my reckless 2 year old self. My parents were always with me every-step of the way. When I needed sleep they knew just the trick, when I needed entertainment, crains and construction it was, they were always with me and by the end of each day I felt complete and safe.

At the age of five I was running and had a true passion for sports influenced by my dad. My dad played many sports and was great at all of them. He played basketball at Harvard and led the school in minutes played and went on to play proffesionaly in Europe. He was also a phenomenal soccer and baseball player as well. My dad was someone I always looked up to and was my drive to do well. Eventually he introduced me to basketball, soccer, and baseball. He trained and taught me with patience and eventually he was able to put me on a baseball team a year older, a basketball team in the neighborhood, and a leauge for my soccer! Nothing could have been better! My dad was also there with and for me every step of the way with my athletics journey which I hope to continue and grow. Without my father and his guidance I would be a different person than I am today. A piece of my identity would be striped.

It was early summer and this would be the year I would go to sleep-away camp in Philadelphia. I was excited because I was going tp be able to see my friends and have a blast playing basketball all day and all night. After a couple nights at sleep-away camp I was crying on my pillow. Part of me felt empty and alone and that empty part was my families absence. I had only been away from my mom, dad, and sister for a couple days, but I could truly feel their absence. Like I said, a part of my identity had been stripped. I missed being around them and the smiles and love they had to give. That was something I need and will always need.

A huge game, up against a great team. I was really nervous for the last game of the much anticipated soccer tournament. The game played out and I was doing my thing! I felt great out there! I turned and glared down the sideline and saw my dad smiling and cheering me on as I ran down the field. He gave me pointers on areas of improvement and things to continue doing. I felt a difference, I felt like myself because my family was there to support me. I felt like myself and my true identity. Over the years I have learned the importance of family and how it has such a big impact on me!
