Grains is the main food group of China. They enjoy rice in the South but in Northern China they prefer to use wheat. Vegetables are also very popular in China. They eat a large amount of cabbage and tofu. Unlike Americans they use chopsticks and a soup spoon to eat their meals.

The national language of China is Mandarin Chinese. About 70% of the population speak Mandarin.

China is ruled by a communist government. In a communist government the government is ruled by a dictator. Communism makes all incomes equal for the people no matter how much they work.

Education

Education in China is must stricter than here in the United States. Students begin school at age six and usually graduate high school at age eighteen. They attend school six days a week and spend at least 12 hours a day at school or studying. They are very pressured by their parents to do well and succeed at school. After graduating high school many attend colleges. Several Chinese students also decide to study abroad and attend college in the United States.
