The South Pole of the magnetic axis is actually the North Pole on earth. The North Pole of the magnetic axis is geographically the South Pole. The magnetic axis acts as a post through the earth so the North Pole won't end up as the South Pole. It tilts and rotates on its axis, it takes 24 hours for the earth to rotate all the way around. The seasons are caused by the earths rotation. The reason earth rotates is because there would be no more seasons. Then there would be one side of earth that would be in darkness the whole time. The oceans hold about 96.5 percent of all of earths water. We need water to live. Water is also what everything needs to live plants, animals, trees, people, etc. but water is also in the air so that is why we have rain periodically. The atmosphere is where it rains and where all the weather happens. There are 5 different layers of the atmosphere the first is the troposphere, that is 0-12 kilometers high. Then the stratosphere which is 12-50 kilometers high. Then the third which is 50-80 kilometers high. Then the fourth is called the Thermosphere and that is 80-700 kilometers high. Lastly is the exosphere which is 700-10000 kilometers high. The first layer has all the rain and snow and other weather. The second layer protects us from harmful UV rays caused by the sun. The third layer protects us from most of the meteorites that come towards earth.
