In chapter 3 we can clearly understand how bribery works and the corruption of the system. Mr. Fogg paid the court, in order to free Passepartout, although he had committed a crime. Goal 16 aims to stop these kind of events from happening.

The second chapter is related to “Gender Equality” in a weird manner. When the prince died, they wanted the princess to die with him too, even if she was in good health. This practise is called Sati or Suttee, which is supposed to happen to show the woman’s devotion to her husband. Some Indian women were forced to die after their husband’s death. They couldn’t choose and often didn’t give their consent. The character of Aouda shows that women did not have the same rights as men at the time when India was ruled by the British. The princess shouldn’t be killed just because the Prince also died. This chapter highlights the importance of equality human rights and the protection of women.

In this chapter, Justice is unjust. In this chapter, Passepartout is guilty of a crime: he entered a Hindu temple without removing his shoes. Justice is not upheld because Mr. Fogg pays thousands of pounds to have him removed.

In chapter 3. Mr Passepartout entered a Hindu temple wearing shoes, but that's forbidden, so he went to prison. He paid several thousand pounds to get out of prison, which is unfair because those who can't afford it can't be released.
