In my French class and during my time with Cobber Kids, I’ve developed critical thinking by adapting lesson plans and activities to engage young learners. For example, when teaching a French song like “Je suis une pizza,” I had to think critically about how to introduce vocabulary in a playful but educational way. I also had to problem-solve in real time when students didn’t understand certain words or needed extra support. These moments helped me strengthen my decision-making and classroom management skills.

One of the highlights of my week/being in French is visiting Cobber Kids, an early childhood program with our school where my French class and I get to interact with the kids and introduce them to the French Language. As an elementary education major, this experience has been incredibly valable and gives me hands-on practice working with children, building relationships. Watching the kids get excited about learning a new word or singing along to our favorite song, "Je suis une pizza" (shoutout Malik!)- makes me even more excited to become a teacher who brings joy, language, and connection to the classroom.
