We do have a mission and a motto. Those are difficult to find and not stated clearly in all our key documents or webpage. I believe this tells already a lot.

It is not about bad will or top to down management (we had this too). It is about not having clear the ways to implement a vision and not a completely successful implementation of the principles of the shared leadership.
I believe we are now starting a new time in our community and those issues will be addressed and solved. It take time and cooperation, beside clear vision on the ways to do it

Unfortunately, except some good exceptios, my school still live in the XX century as well many of my colleagues and many of the equipment! I can see my school as a team between the diferent teaching levels but it's not what we have. There is lot of individualism and lack of time to work with each other. In my school vision I see education as an integral, multifaced process that combines both academic achievement and citizenship. This vision is also shared by schools in Portugal. However, in their daily performance, teachers still act as if the most important thing is to be able to leave no previously programmed content behind no matter what. Thus, they spend the whole time racing and easily forget the citizens in the classroom sitting before them. They only see students lacking the contents to be assessed formally. I don´t have a school vision: I teach on a different school every year since 2014. The longest time I have remained at a school is five years, but it was informal education, and now I am teaching at formal education schools.

I do have a vision of who I am and what can I do as a teacher, and a strong view of my discipline (music) and how to teach/transmit music and educate through music.
I have developed an awareness for what is expected from me.

I try to get any opportunity to break the boundaries, i.e. I collaborate with other teachers. This year, my fellow music teacher and I share 1 hour lesson per week with a group. We are both learning from the experience and the students benefit from our different skills and do like this class. Some difficulties have arise, of course, but it´s a very interesting process.

I perceive that there is a school vision indeed, a common sense agreement, not explicit, in many teachers.

I’ve worked as a principal in another school for four years, and from the first day I asked my colleagues for help in sharing one common school vision. I think that we did it.

as far as my school is concerned, we never either mention or defined a vision. We still have quite a few traditional teachers that believe school is a place where kids are basically asked to study and do their best no matter what the environment is_ we also have a growing number of younger teachers who are bringing with them some new views and ways of teaching / learning. Working all together to establish a common vision would be absolutely desirable. Maybe all teachers should spend less time in lectures and share more time at school together with other teachers in order to increase cooperation and find new ways to manage their precious time.
I also think we need to establish more cooperation agreements with external associations, local authorities, experts, past teachers, parents, past students who might help the school to select its priorities to enhance learning and well-being.
A common vision would help take the right decisions when selecting goals and activities, it would make teachers stronger and would help the principal to share ideas and get to know the school staff much better.

This one-page definition of "world-peace" can be read at the beginning of the School Curriculum.
I do not think it is good. We should prioritise and be able to make decisions based on that priority.
Another benefit would be that it would be clear for everyone what the priority is and they wouldn't choose the one goal that they prefer.
Finally, school curricula must be acknowledged by the authorities and once they have accepted they shouldn't require anything that would go against or would not serve these shared goals. (I know it is a dream, however.)

Our school students come mainly from Africa. Most of them used to live in small villages where school wasn’t a daily reality (political issues, strikes, underqualified teachers, sometimes teachers went 3 or 4 months without receiving their payment). When they are 15 or 16 years old their parents, putting a lot of effort, send them to Portugal because they believe that by getting an European education they will be much stronger to face the world in Africa or in Europe if they choose to stay). Once in Portugal, a relative accepts them in their home but it won’t be easy. Family ties aren’t always there, and school is a new world very different from the one they left behind. Some students don’t speak Portuguese, some never used a personal computer in their lives, some don’t have enough food to eat at home, some don’t have money to buy winter clothes… most of them don’t have the skills one would expect at their age and therefore the classroom can also go from paradise to a very boring place where some think they will never succeed… Perhaps I’m describing a rather harsh reality but unfortunately a true one.

So, what kind of vision can we build to lead these students to success? About 6 years ago, our school started changing its modus operandi: school results are important, but these students need so much more support beyond a grade in a final exam. We need to empower them in many angles: ethical training, values, meaningful experiences, relevant and contextualized learning. Our first main goal is to allow them to adapt, socially living so far as possible different situations that can prepare them to their future life. Quality and efficiency are goals in our horizon, but equity is far more the one we put our effort into. But there are boys and girls at school with a steady life. Are we focusing 100% on the others living them behind? No! Their outcome can even be richest because they are fully adapted to diversity, they respect all people regardless of their background and therefore they are able to perform in any working team. Has it been easy? It has been hard. Some students leave school and never come back but we see many others succeeding in life, making their own choices, working as lawyers, tv presenters, models, singers, footballers, an NBA basketballer (yes, it’s true!), leading a team in a factory or selling flowers in a market: we know our and their effort was worthwhile and meaningful.

It is difficult to answer that (which means the answer is then certainly "no, there is not vision in my school").
There are official regulation stating vision like "European spirit", "excellence", "critical thinking" and so on, all notions that could be good but in this context sound empty, because, in practice, no clear vision is implemented in the school and the teachning itself.
Since the staff is multicultural (from all Europe), the direction is happy to let everyone do whatever they want, enforcing only rules that will ensure no complains from the parents on a legal standpoints (especıially regarding the evaluations).
So, I would say "no", but the basis for a common school vision is here somewhere, it only needs some eager people to shine a light on it and act upon it.

I am not sure! Well, if there is, it is not very well defined, or communicated to all. Many times we, the teachers, discuss on many different topics, it seems that at the end we agree on something and finaly each one does it on his/her way!
There are examples of collaboration but in smaller groups (4-5 teachers) that result great achievements and distinctions, but the same people are always collaborate with the same people and that is not so "common" goal!
We lack of a well and preciese defined vision in our school.

You, along with colleagues, may find that the vision is irrelevant, out of date or basically one you do not agree with.

If we state that a common vision has to be shared by all the community, I would like a school where everyone supports the others. This is, parents more involved in their children's education, not by helping them with tasks but encouraging them to improve their skills pointing out the value of education and not questioning the role of teachers.
Outstanding students should help others and avoid competition among them building creative study groups, for instance. Throughout our programs so far our goal is to provide playful learning, attractive knowledge and the well-being of students and tomorrow's citizens.
So since we have the space inside and outside the school, we want to take advantage of it in that direction. Our large courtyard, for example, can become a great outdoor learning environment.

At the European level, the tendency to use non-formal learning in formal and traditional learning environments is becoming more dynamic and increasing.
How does this happen? What can we integrate into and inspire and motivate students?
Through the cultural and music programs the students also made significant and visible progress. They work in groups (and transnational), play metallophones, flutes, percussion with traditional and classical repertoire. They were motivated to learn music outside of school, now with a small orchestra. is the program structured there? Our visit there will allow us to see closely how the program is structured
We will then focus on non-formal learning (outdoor learning, games inside or outside of the classroom), using experiential and playful learning in our activities to increase students' motivation and enthusiasm for learning.

Besides being an English teacher, I also coach a football team. To win or have a vision you need that everyone believes in that vision otherwise it is unattainable. I think we need to invest in our educational system if we want to have a school dream.

I have a school vision that is the base of construction of participated citizenship, hapiness in work mainframe and mostly the share of tools to achieve your goals.
My school, as all schools try theyr best to achieve this vision but the school has to answer external factors also and in educational development the practice is always so slow that when we finaly are in full conditions to aplly a plan to improve practice, that plan is already uncoordinate with external social demands.
I think that shared leadership can reduce the timeline necessary to answer imediate and urgent changes. But this shared leadership must be a wide leadership concept with full authonomy of scools and not only with a percentage of autonomy.
