Sudetenland was close to the USSR and had resources that could help boost Nazi Germany's war efforts. Stalin was afraid that Hitler would work together with the allies to take out USSR and their ideology (communism). (need to use more of the terms of the Nazi-Soviet Pact to illustrate how the Pact will help Stalin)

(EX) The Munich agreement gave Hitler gain control of Sudetenland. Despite Soviet Union having a mutual assistance treaty with Czechoslovakia, they both were not consulted at all about the Agreement. Stalin lost trust in the West because they allowed Hitler to gain military strength. As a result of the distrust, Stalin also saw this it was an intention by the West to allow Hitler to move closer to USSR and subsequently invade USSR. Stalin knew that Hitler will invade USSR eventually as Hitler had openly made his intention known. In the NS Pact, both Hitler and Stalin made an agreement in the Nazi-Soviet Pact to not invade each other.

(A) Stalin signed the NS Pact because it prevented war with Germany temporarily. By signing the non aggression pact, it allowed Hitler would to focus on fighting the Allies on the Western Front and not having to fight a 2-front war with USSR on the Eastern Front west side of the war and leave the USSR alone. By not fighting a war with Germany, Stalin can conserve resources would not have to fight Germany and waste resources, and at the same time Stalin could turned his enemies against each other. This also allowed him to buy time to reorganize and remilitarize his own country and prepare for an impending war with Germany.

Many of the top red army officers who eliminated as Stalin distrusted them. High-ranking commanders and ten thousands of Red Army officers were accused of treason, tortured into confession and shot. Stalin lost more than half of the most experienced army officers and commanders. He promoted young and inexperienced members who gave him their loyalty. There is no strong leadership for the inexperienced soldiers. Stalin replace the top red army officers with inexperienced and young officers that vowed their loyalty to Stalin. There were lesser experienced officers leading the army, thus causing them to have poor strategies in war, resulting in huge losses in war (question not on WWII).
