APOR is a self funded project initiated by a group of volunteers who distribute meals and food items right to the doorsteps of the needy senior citizens who are living in rental flats in Singapore. Food staples such as bananas, buns, bread, biscuits and packet drinks are purchased from local supermarkets or wholesaler. These items are then transported to the stipulated meet up point for volunteers to bundle them into convenient take and go packages according to the recipients’ HDB block numbers. APOR will extend their care and concerns to needy senior citizens in other parts of Singapore as well. They welcome any contributions or sponsorships. Nothing is ever considered too small for their old folks.

The reason why these pantries are unmanned is because the family believes in respect for the less fortunate, since some of them may feel shy and have no dignity from receiving free food from someone else. Hence, if they are unmanned it gives the less fortunate the chance to receive food without feeling like they owe the family too much. Moreover, trust between the family and less fortunate is established, though they might not know each others' identities.

When businesses sell food items, they tend to cook/prepare extra as they do not want the food items to run out in the middle of the day. For example, one way of starting a donation the volunteer leader in Yishun, Rahimah Rahim came out with is “Free Food For All” , where she runs a community fridge with the residents such that they can donate food that they do not need it but still in good quality to consume into the fridge and are able to take the other food that is sufficient for their family to eat. This can allow the Low income families to be able to have assess to food when they are unable to afford buying food themselves and able to continue with live.

One example of how individuals contribute to meet the needs of society is Ken Yeo and his family, and the project of "Unmanned Free Food Pantry". The family created the UFFP to ensure that the less fortunate get their hands on some food that they may not be able to afford. These pantries are placed around void decks of HDB blocks, unmanned by anyone to supply food such as Indo-mie and Gardenia bread. The reason why the pantries are unmanned is because the Yeo Family believes in respect for the less fortunate, since some of them may feel shy or have no dignity for receiving free food from someone else. By having no one manning the pantries, the less fortunate can receive food without feeling like they owe the family. The trust that will be established between the family and these less fortunate people will result in the increase in likelihood of these fortunate people visiting these pantries because they are grateful and will let other people know about this. The more people will know about the kind deeds done by the Yeo Family and the pantries will gain popularity. Some non profit organisations may take notice of the idea and collaborate with the family to expand the project, throughout the whole of Singapore. Hence, a larger proportion of the less fortunate in Singapore will receive the aid of free food , further enhancing the contributions done by the Yeo Family in doing good for the society.

Formal groups such as Food form the Heart or Food bank collect food from local Singaporeans and appealing to students through assembly tlaks in different ways. But the object is the same and that is to donate food the needy groups for them to benefit. For example food form the heart collaborates with Pei Hwa Secondary conducting a food drive. A certain week students are parents are being asked by the Sec 4s to donate food items. The Sec 4s pack the food by categories and help load into the food form teh heart trucks. These foods will go into their food from the heart inventory. Food from the heart has a community shop that sells food just like at Fairprice but at a heavily discounted price for the needy to afford basic food items such as packets of noodles, soups, bread, etc... The food that is in there inventory is used to restock these community shop to ensure a continual supply of food to the needy, the needy can then pick and buy food according to their needs at home at a heavily discounted price, this would not burn a whole in their wallet and save them in the long run as they have what they need, thus they have food to eat at home for the kids and family and thus meeting the needs of society

Individuals can contribute to meet the needs of society by providing needy citizens with what they need. For example, a family in Singapore has set up temporary cardboard stalls with free food and household items like bread, biscuits and mosquito repellents along roads near 1 to 2 room HDB blocks and the people living in these blocks are free to grab a few of the items. Since the residents can take what they need, they will be feel grateful for what they have received and will also try to give back to society and help those who need the items. This can help maintain a constant cycle of needy people being able to receive what they need and and the individuals giving will be able to contribute to the needs of society.

The government official and financial minister Lawrence Wong as well as the Community Development Council (CDC) are contributing by starting schemes to help families that live in HDB as well as executive/multigeneration housing. They do this be implementing a e-voucher system called the GSTV U-Save where as the prices of food and daily necessities are increasing, U-Save is able to help act as cash such that the people in the housing are able to buy the food they require. This will lead to the families feeling a sense of appreciation as the government are stepping up to help the people, thus the government will continue the act of giving out U-Save vouchers ranging from $55 to $95 every month to HDB owners to continue helping out the locals, with these vouchers, the locals will be able to get the food they need, and with the government giving the vouchers to the locals, it shows them giving to the society, and with the locals buying the food with the vouchers they get on a monthly basis, they will not have any lack of food, hence food insecurity is slowly being handled.

One such group is Comm.UnitySG, where youths volunteer to deliver food to needy elderly and helping the elderly to paint their house. Such actions bring awareness that youths are helping others in need which could help raise more funds in these projects and bring in more volunteers . Thus, more people will start helping others in need.

The government contributes by provision of funds for society's needs; the Singapore government has provided a hundred dollars worth of Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers for their low-income families in mid-2022; this was done so through the Household Support Package as part of the country's Budget 2022.
By providing these vouchers for households, low-income families will receive a separate source of money from the government that can allow them to pay for meals. Through this, families will be able to cut down on expenditure for meals from their own income, relieving the burden of workload and budgeting on low-income families while at the same time, making sure they receive proper meals for a period of time; this is how the government provides basic necessities for low-income families in Singapore.

Individuals can personally set up a community fridge stationed at somewhere accessible for other residents who need the groceries to take them.
