  • Scheme/pattern is already established -> easy to recall/apply knowledge, when mentally oriented towards the field in question (School subject) -> hard to access in other contexts (transfer of knowledge from on subject to others or in contexts of outside of school)  
  • Fits into current interpretation of reality  
  • Takes places in all contexts where on gradually develops one’s capacity  
  • Examples: - school subjects, that build up by means of constant additions to what has already been learned  - a child sees a new type of dog for the first time and immediately points to the animals and says: “dog”  - a chief learns a new cooking technique

    - Requires a lot of mental energy, and when accomplished it can come as a feeling of relief or relaxation

    The teachers woke up the students in the middle of the night and told them to go with them. They had to walk for several hours in a dark, unfamiliar area, through fields and forests only with flashlights: no food, water, or cellphones. All they were told was that they were refugees trying to flee the war and cross the border of another country.
    They have learned a lot about the refugees’ life through thirst, hunger, fatigue, and fear they’ve experienced.
