The red ball held in the hands of the maiden also creates emphasis and contrast against the rest of the artwork, which utilizes cold, analogous colors. 

Contrast is created by the divergence of colors and values of the maiden and the shadows of the background. This creates an idea of distance, and a formation of harmony is formed with the choice of colors and shadows.

The lines are pointing towards the direction of the maiden, directing the attention to her. 

The color of the maiden's dress is darker than the surrounding background, which also makes it the focal point.

The space is also use in an interesting way, as the background of the box is divided into the the mountains below and the sky above. Most of the background could also be considered as empty space. 

The painting includes the concept of organic and  three dimensional forms. The maiden is the 3D form in this piece. It is attached onto the original painting behind it. It is also in an organic form because it is in the shape of a human being. 

 There is a mix of different textures. The mountains before has a rougher surface compared to the smooth, silky, gradient background. The strings and maiden are also made from different medias that are stuck onto the original painting, resulting in a difference texture and appearance. 

The gradient/fading effect of the light background is part of the value element of the design. It gradually gets darker as it extends out. The maiden's similar turquoise color is darker than the light turquoise background, diverting the values of the design.
