Many educators think that teaching reading and writing skills is the task of language teachers. It is important to remember that reading and writing skills will greatly assist students in learning subjects or any other activities. Then there is no reason for us to impose the teaching of literacy skills as the work of a particular subject. At our school, students are included in the Effective Reading program as a compulsory activity for all students at all grade levels. After a year of development, by reading the different types of books and writing the diary for the books they read, we found some of the benefits of this program:

• Develop reading skills, gather information, analyze, interpret text, synthesize, feedback, evaluate.
• Construct meaning for themselves.
• Visual information.

2.4.1 CONTEXT
Context can be any sources of information; this means, context could not be in the text but come from the reader's world.
2.4.2 TEXT
It talks about the expectations about the text and how will be organized.
2.4.3 PARAGRAPH
Paragraphs help to structure text; every new paragraph starts on a new line. We start a new paragraph to signal that the person, place, time or topic of the sentences has changed. They are mainly used to deal with the developments of topics in a text.
2.4.4 SENTENCE/CLAUSE
A sentence can have just one clause or it can have multiple clauses. The only defining characteristic of a clause is that it must contain a related subject and verb. Clauses play a variety of roles in English and because of this, there are numerous ways to structure and combine them; thus, sentences and clauses are words connected to produce meaning.
2.4.5 WORDS
A word is a single unit of language that can be represented in writing or speech. In English, a word has a space on either side of it when it is written.
2.4.6 MORPHEMES
Morphemes are the smallest units of meaning in a language. A morpheme may, however, have more than on pronunciation or spelling. For example, the regular noun plural ending has two spellings (-s and -es) and three pronunciations (an s-sound as in backs, a z-sound as in bags, and a vowel plus z-sound as in batches).
2.4.7 SYLLABLES
A syllable is a single, unbroken sound of a spoken or written word. Syllables usually contain a vowel and accompanying consonants. Sometimes syllables are referred to as the ‘beats’ of spoken language.
For example: Computer has 3 syllables  (Com/  pu/  ter)
2.4.8 LETTERS 
Letters are symbols that usually are written or printed representing a speech sound and constituting a unit of an alphabet.
