Also known as pink capitalism, during June 'Pride Month, Corporations or Companies will claim they support the LGBTQ+ community, but they only brand their products with Pride Themes to earn profit and capitalize on the movement.
For this reason, this negatively impacts the progress of the LGBTQ+ movement. Big corporations only care about making money and not the well-being of their LGBTQ+ employees. The outbreak of aids was a massive crisis in the gay community. Multiple homosexual men were infected with HIV/AIDS resulting in death. Lack of education and treatment caused problems and a bad reputation for the gay community; many called it the "gay disease." 
In modern society, treatments like PrEp can prevent the transmission of HIV. There's also an increase in education and awareness to eliminate the stigma of HIV. 
One of the most pivotal moments in LGBTQ history is legalizing gay marriage. The first legal same-sex marriage occurred in May 2004 in Massachusetts.
