La Signora is married to Pantalone which means that she is a brain character. A brain character is a character that is a master which means that she's in control. She hopes to inherit a lot of wealth from Pantalone but she's also the mistress of Pedolino. In some literature she is mentioned as a high-class prostitute or concubine

In many lazzi's she fights with other woman. She must have some true feelings because of her attraction to il Capitano, also a very strong character.

La Singora can be a courtesan (high class prostitute) but typically manages to wrangle her way into the household of an older man, usually Pantalone I think that La Singora is sneaky and nasty because she has cheated on Pantalone multiple times but I think she is not particularly hated or liked.

There is a wide range of masks found to be worn by La Singora. Most of the mask images I saw were predominately red with a shaded black and/or white. Maybe because red and black suit her dominant personality. The mask in this picture has a dark red color with red lips, cheeks, eyebrows and nose with a black shaded forehead. The mask is a half-mask which means that the mask only covers about half of her face. I think the mask looks a bit blown up with big cheek bones which suits her outgoing personality.

La Signora tries to dress nicely to impress the family she's trying to get into (usually that of Pantalone). The dresses are mostly pretty neat and formal and intended to look like she has a lot of money. I think the audience would think that she's quite important when she's actually not.

I think her fliting with Il Capitano could be real or fake. Fake because Il Capitano is one of the charters with most power and money. And real because Il Capitano is quite a sexy, big and important man - qualities she is attracted to. I think her relationship with other woman in commedia dell'arte is not too good because in most of the plays she is fighting with other characters (mostly woman).

It is quite likely that she is also not liked due to her greed for power, money and jewelry which does not make her popular with other female characters.

One of the comedic traits from an audience perspective is possibly flirting as she does this a lot. She could also be teasing some of the other women to make them look bad in front of the men.

In some literature La Singora is identifed as a high class prostitute or a concubine (a concubine is a woman who lives with a man but has lower status than his wife or wives).

In some cultures like Japan or Korea concubines are very respected they are seen as strong influential characters which is probably why they chose to make La Singora a concubine. During that period concubines were very popular.

The Commedia dell'arte scenes and sketches were mostly preformed in gibberish (gibberish is a fantasy language that is made up as it is spoken). They spoke gibberish so they could perform in different countries where they spoke different languages. It also forced the actors to act with their bodies.

Something that I think La Singora would say is (Gibberish version): "Loeksss likke r biilt kun ullyo pie poned eno waiey, boet Y joest ze hebben zoef hif i tankster lee.

Or translated to modern English:

"Looks like your belt can only be opened one way, but I just so happen to have a master key".

Lazzo is the term for spontaneous comedic dialogue or action in commedia dell'arte. Though it is more likely a derivative of le azioni, the word may have originated from lacci, the humorous interludes that the character Arlecchino (Harlequin) performed between scenes. Lazzi, which included pratfalls and other acrobatics, verbal asides on contemporary literary and political issues, and other similar actions, were one of the main tools available to commedia actors. Many actors gained notoriety for their engaging and improvised lazzi; these pieces were often performed with minor modifications and became a staple of the commedia repertory. Lazzi became known as jigs because they were implied in many comedies, including William Shakespeare's.
