A rapidly strengthening winter storm, known as a bomb cyclone, is less than 24 hours away from delivering an unusual amount of snow, damaging winds, and dangerous coastal flooding to parts of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic. It will draw very cold air southward, allowing snow to fall across areas that don’t often see significant winter weather. This will also increase its winds, particularly along the coast.

A Minnesota man was arrested and charged with impersonating an FBI agent after he tried to enter a federal jail and release suspected murderer Luigi Manglone, according to law enforcement sources.

Mark Anderson, 36, arrived at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday evening, claiming he was an FBI agent with a court order for Mangione’s release, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday and a law enforcement source.

When officials with the Bureau of Prisons asked the man for his credentials, according to the complaint, the man provided a Minnesota driver’s license. He also allegedly stated that he had weapons in his bag.

Anderson then allegedly threw paperwork at the BOP officers. The papers appeared to be related to legal claims against the Justice Department, according to the FBI agent who signed the complaint.

A judge in Minneapolis tried to set rules to protect peaceful protesters, like when agents could use pepper spray and other weapons. A higher court with mostly conservative judges put those rules on hold, saying they were too broad and not clear enough. Trump and his backers think the president should have very strong control over immigration, while critics worry this will lead to more abuse and fear among immigrants.

Two independent journalists, Don Lemon and Georgia Fort, have been arrested in connection with a protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Lemon and Fort were live-streaming as dozens of anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protesters rushed into Cities Church on January 18, interrupting a church service and leading to tense confrontations.

Attorney General Pam Bondi on Friday announced that four people had been arrested “in connection with the coordinated attack” at the church.

The other two individuals Bondi named were Trahern Jeen Crew and Jamael Lydell Lundy.

Long-term alcohol use has been linked to higher risks of colorectal cancer, according to a study published Monday in the journal Cancer.

Researchers found that those with heavy lifetime alcohol consumption have up to a 91% higher risk of developing colorectal cancer compared with those who drank very little. That risk significantly increased with consistent heavy consumption, whereas those who quit drinking may have demonstrated decreased risk of precancerous tissue.

"The longer someone drinks, the longer their colon and rectum are exposed damage and impaired repair, both major mechanisms of cancer," Dr. Lynn M O'Connor, section chief of colon and rectal surgery at Mercy Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospital in New York, told ABC News.
