John 1:11-13
Summary: In these verses, John describes how Jesus came to earth to be with HIs children. However, as he walked and lived with them there were some who refused to accept Him. Still, there were some who did accept Him and His love, and He gave them the to be children of God in return.

Application: In terms of life application, these verses are useful in reminding us about Jesus himself. He gave love to everyone, and to all who accepted it and believed in Him, so they received the right to be children of God. By reminding ourselves of how He loves us unconditionally while we still sin, it assures us that we

John 1:14-18
Summary: Within these verses, John, once, again discusses how the Word came down to this earth as flesh and dwelled with us. John also went on to say how this incarnation of the Word, Jesus Christ, came with truth and grace which were bestowed upon mankind. In the end, he speaks of how Jesus, the Son, was the only one who had ever seen the Father yet he was the Father.

Application: As far as applying this to my own life goes, I have to say that I really ought to remember who Christ was and why he came. Jesus came to earth to show us the Fruit of the Spirit through his words and actions. In doing so, he shows just how much God loves us.

John 1:19-28
Summary: In these specific verses, we see John being questioned by people sent by the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem while he was baptizing. When asked if he was the Messiah, Elijah, or the Prophet, his answer each time was no. He then answered in the words of Isaiah saying that he is "the voice of the one calling in the desert: make straight the way for the Lord." John then told his listeners that he simply baptizes with water as he pointed out that Jesus was in that very crowd.

Application: One way to apply the meaning behind this passage to our normal lives is by humbling ourselves. John had the opportunity to say that he had a sort of divine power that his crowd did not know of, but he instead stated that he only baptized people with water. He then went on say that he wasn't worthy to untie the sandals of the one in the crowd, who we know is Jesus, which is a humble display of respect.

John 1:29-34
Summary: Summarizing these verses, John sees Jesus in the crowd and he is filled with excitement. He begins to praise him, as well as reveal that he baptizes with water so that he might be revealed to Israel. John then gave his testimony saying that he saw the Spirit come down from Heaven and remain on Him as a symbol of how He baptizes people with the Holy Spirit.

Application: When applying this passage to my life, I think about how I ought to think about my own testimony. It makes me wonder about where and when I've seen God in my life. In addition to this, I also have begun to think about what God has done through me in my life for others, and this is something I really need to think about.

John 1:35-42
Summary: In these verses, we see John and two of his disciples right as Jesus passes by. When John acknowledges Jesus, the two disciples who were with him now intended to follow Jesus. Andrew, one of the two disciples, then journeyed off to find his brother Simon and eventually brought him to Jesus, whom he called the Messiah.

Application: In consideration of how to apply this to my own life, I think about my faithfulness. The disciples who followed Jesus, had complete faith in who he was after John called Him the Lamb of God. Thinking about this, I wonder if i would've done the same thing, for faith in who God is and what He does are cornerstones of being a Christian.

John 1:43-51
Summary: Within this passage, we read about how two other men, Philip and Nathanael, are called into discipleship by Jesus. Philip, after being called by Jesus, went to find Nathanael who would later come with him to see Jesus after being told of his whearabouts. When Jesus met Nathanael, he was astounded by Jesus' knowledge of him being under a fig tree, and he believed that Jesus was the Son of God.

Application: As I think about how to apply this to my own life, I begin to think that the message here is also about faith. Jesus only had to speak of what Nathanael was doing, and he believed Him which speaks volume to me about how he must've felt. I won't lie, I do struggle with what I believe sometimes, because I see examples of strong belief like this and I want to have it.

John 2:1-12
Summary: This passage discusses a particular wedding that Jesus attended. Jesus, His mother, and His disciples were all there, and at one moment there was no wine remaining at the ceremony. Instead, Jesus told the servants to go and fill six stone water jars with water and to bring them back to Him. After doing so, Jesus told them to bring some of the water to the master of the banquet, and when he tasted it, it was wine. After this, everyone believed in Him.

Application: Looking through these verses, the only life application I can think of is taking an in-depth look at who Jesus was. His power, given to Him by God, was only used in service of others. By creating wine from water for the wedding, he did a service to all at the wedding (and his mom might've given Him a timeout if he used his power selfishly).

He then drove out all who did business there, but Jewish leaders asked what authority he had to do such things. Jesus replied by saying that he would raise the temple in three days, but he was speaking about his own body when he would rise from the grave after three days.

Application: As I look at this passage: the only application to anyone's life that I can think of is to remember Jesus' power over the grave. He foretold everything that would happen, and he would make his ultimate sacrifice for us on the cross. Remembering this sacrifice is what I would apply to my own life.

However, Jesus would not entrust Himself to mankind. He knew what was inside each individual person, so no one would need to testify for themselves to Him.

Application: As far as life applications go, this one is hard to interpret. However, I've come to realize that the lesson to apply to my own life is how I must realize that God knows everything about me. By doing so, I place more trust in HIm than I would otherwise.

Jesus then goes on to say that no one can enter the kingdom of Heaven unless they're born again. Not of the flesh he says, but of the Spirit.

Application: The most evident life application that comes from this passage is to know that we must be born again to reach the kingdom of Heaven. I must admit though, that I am a bit confused by it all. I know that I've been baptized in the name of the Spirit and that I've been remade through Christ's ultimate sacrifice. I get the feeling, though, that it sounds a lot simpler than I really realize.

In addition to this, it is said that God gave His Son to the world because he loved it dearly and the Son would come to save the world. While whoever believes in Him will have eternal life, whoever doesn't believe in Him condemns themselves.

Application: In terms of a life application, the one I believe everyone could stand to apply to their lives is that we must have faith in Him to reach heaven. Also, He said that he came to save the world not to condemn it, so he never once had a bad intention for the world in His heart regarding humanity. However, there are some who would not believe, and I'm sure the thought of this breaks His heart.

Those who do evil hate the light and won't come into and embrace the light because they fear their deeds being exposed. However, whoever lives in truth will come into the light and that whatever they do will be seen by God.

Application: I was easily able to find a life application in this passage for me and everyone, which is to live a truthful life. Doing evil deeds in the dark, or rather they're hidden from the eyes of the world, will only make us more fearful of being truthful and honest. So, what I must remember is that living openly and honestly will spare me any fear I might have about private sin.

It is said that whoever comes from the earth is of the earth and speaks as one from it, but the one who comes from heaven is above all and testifies what is true. Therefore, whoever accepts His testimony confirms that God is truthful, and they will have eternal life.

Application: The only life application I could think of regarding myself was to remember that everything that Jesus testified was true. Because He came down from heaven, he had seen and witnessed everything from heaven, and God even said that His testimony was true. So, I obviously need to remind myself that God knows everything and that if I firmly believe that God's word, I will have eternal life.

During his journey, he stopped by the well that once belonged to Jacob for water. He was met, however, by a Samaritan woman who also went to retrieve water, but she was confused to hear Jesus speak to her when it wasn't normal for a Jew to speak to a Samaritan.

Application: The life application to my own life that I took from this passage was to remember that Jesus was unafraid to act in contrast to the Jewish rules of His day. While Jesus did a great many things that appeared to be uncommon, benevolent, and even strange, he was kind and good towards all He met. So, I must always remember to be like Christ wherever I go, especially towards people I've never met.

He also says that water from Him will become a spring of water in them becoming a well. This woman was convinced, and she asked for the water Jesus offered.

Application: The life application to take away from this passage comes from what the Samaritan woman did: she wanted to nurture her spirit. There are times where we all will turn to more earthly things to get by on, but like Jesus says, the living water he offers will satisfy our thirst forever. While it sounds ridiculous to some, it rings true for many others who are spiritually lacking.

After this, He told her that a time a time has come where true worshippers will worship the Father in the Spirit.

Application: The application to my own life I found in this passage was to recognize that God searches for those who worship in the Spirit and in truth. He then explained to the confused disciples that his food is to do the will of God and to "finish His work." Jesus concludes his statement by saying that He sent the disciples to reap whatever they haven't worked for.

Application: The life application I found to be most evident within this passage is to be more like Christ regarding his will to serve. Jesus told the disciples that the only nourishment he needed came from doing God's will and serving others, which is a trait we all should possess. It is truly remarkable, to me, when I think about how Christ did nothing but serve others and did what God told him, and it made Him happy.

John 4: 39-42
Summary: After the Samaritan woman told the town of what Jesus told her, the Samaritans all came to Him and asked that He stay for a couple of days. He did, and He also spoke to the people of the town which persuaded many more of them to be believers. These people now truly believed that Jesus was the Savior of the world after hearing Him.

Application: As I think if how to apply this to my life, I think what I should take away from the passage is to acknowledge how Christ was around crowds. He was calm, honest, and caring whenever He spoke to crowds full of eager listening ears. So, as a Christian, it would only benefit me to speak to those who will listen in the same fashion.

They were also interested in what He had done at the Passover festival since most of them were there.

Application: The life application I produced after reading this passage is to remember why Jesus was so popular. This man spoke and performed extraordinary things in front of very ordinary people, and such deeds easily caught the attention of the masses. When the official returned to his son, he found him alive and recovering in addition to finding out about his recovery at the exact moment Jesus said he was healed.

Analysis: The life application I will apply to my own life from this passage is to acknowledge how I must believe without seeing. Then Jesus told him to get up and walk over to the pool, and the now cured man got up and walked.

Application: After reading this passage, the life application for my own life that I discovered was that God never asks anything of us that we cannot do. Worship is an important thing, so it is important that we don't waste it on something artificial. In addition to this, there is a war on worship taking place in our everyday lives called temptation, so it is imperative that we all recognize that whatever we worship is what we are obsessed with.
