This may include emailing coaches and sending highlight videos to increase their chance of being recruited. “College coaches are extremely busy; it would be impossible for them to travel the country to evaluate every potential recruit. Highlight videos are a chance to get student-athletes in front of coaches and give them an unbiased look at their skills and abilities. It’s a fact that online recruiting profiles that include a highlight video receive more than 10 times as much traffic as those without one. A great highlight video is one of the most important things to include in your recruiting profile to garner some serious attention from college coaches.” (The Importance of Highlight and Skills Videos)

Having leaders is hard, but someone always has to be a leader if you don’t then no one will care. On the field there’s leaders everywhere, Certain people have to call others off. Like centerfielders have priority over the corners. So if they call them off its there’s. Third and first basemen have priority over pitcher and catcher. “We’ve all been there. A pop-up is hit on the infield, and several players call it. Or no one calls it. The ball drops in the middle of them as they all stare blankly at one another. This happens often, particularly at younger and lower levels. But it will happen at the higher levels and older ages, too. Why? Due to a lack of communication and a basic understanding of pop-up and fly ball priority.” (Pop-Up and Fly Ball Priority). You always need leaders if you don’t have them you have no team. You don’t want to rely on them because that puts a lot of pressure on them but most people do so you need someone who can handle all od that. “It’s important to keep an entire

team engaged when the momentum starts flowing in their direction.” (Girls Softball)

· Shoe string- Coach throws a ball in front of the outfielder.

Outfielder charges in and tries to make the shoestring catch. Once she catches the ball she rolls it back to the coach and then runs back out to her outfield position.

· Fly ball- a ball batted high into the air

· Relay- he quickest way to get a ball in from the fence or from a location that is farther than one quick throw is a softball relay throw. This throw makes it easier to get the ball to its destination quickly and with less chance for errors

· Around the horn- Around the Horn The catcher lines up just in front of homeplate with the ball. You will have a runner standing on home. She will start to run all the way around the bases as soon as the catcher makes her first throw.

· Interference- The act of an offensive player or team member, umpire or spectator that impedes, hinders, or confusesa defensive player attempting to execute a play. Contact is not necessary.

· Front toss- front toss is basically soft toss from in front of the hitter with the tosser behind a screen (if you don’t have a screen use whiffle balls).

· Illegal pitch- A quick pitch is an illegal pitch. Umpires will judge a quick pitch as one delivered before the batter is reasonably set in the batter’s box. With runners on base the penalty is a balk; with no runners on base, it is a ball.

· Ground ball- a ball hit on the ground

· Star drill- The girls must go through each station (star point) until the girl that started the drill at SS catches the last ball at SS. With our team of about 20 girls, we can get through this [tag]softball drill[/tag] as fast as 90 seconds or as slow as 4 minutes. If a girl misses the throw or drops a catch, she must hustle to get the ball, without help from her teammates, get back to her position before she can throw the ball to the next station. If there is an errant throw, her teammates can “pick-her up” by digging the ball out of the dirt or jumping to catch it.
- A walk-off occurs when the home team takes the lead in the bottom of the ninth or extra innings

“Girls Softball.” Revolution Field Hockey Camps, https://summersoftballcamp.com/. Accessed 20 Apr. 2022.

In this article it talks about leadership and how if you don't have a leader, you won't have a real team. To have a team you need someone to pull everyone together. Sometimes it's better to have a leader who doesn't speak and always leads by example. You can start that at a young age too. A lot of people don't want to take on that role because it's a big position to fill. You have to stay up, you cat get down on yourself. Everyone looks at you for help and what to do next. In this article it states, “it’s important to keep an entire team engaged when the momentum starts flowing in their direction.” There's people that are just born leaders and you will always need them. They start young and as they get older they become such great leaders that even out softball they still know how to lead. This article talks about the element of leadership. The people who wrote this article are college coaches, I trust this site because they are experienced and there's at least 6 that wrote this. Their experience builds credibility.

“The Importance of Highlight and Skills Videos.” NCSA Sports, 1 Feb. 2018, https://www.ncsasports.org/college-recruiting-video. Accessed 11 Apr. 2022.

In this article it talks about highlight videos. Posting highlight videos is good, coaches are able to see you, also it helps to get yourself out there. You want to get multiple clips in a game or multiple games and put it all together. Its clips of your game footage that highlight your talent and skill. College coaches have a million girls that want to play for them and can't go to every one of those girls so videos are the best thing for them. This article is about the element of social media and who comes to the game. The NCSA recruiting people wrote the article.

“Pop-Up and Fly Ball Priority.” Spiders Elite, 2 July 2018, https://spiderselite.com/2018/07/01/pop-up-and-fly-ball-priority/. Accessed 11 Apr. 2022.

This article is about who has priority on the field; how outfield has priority over infield, but center field has priority over the left and right field. The author also discusses how shortstop has priority over everyone in the infield. However, just because the shortstop has priority doesn't mean anything, she actually has to call the ball. “How you call for a ball is up to you, but it’s best to remain consistent. While most kids may have been brought up on “I GOT IT!”, I prefer something simpler like “BALL!” And repeat it for added emphasis: “BALL! BALL! BALL!” It helps people know who has what.” (Pop-Up). This article talks about the element of leadership. The people who wrote this are coaches of a baseball team.
