But in one English listening class, the tutor played a video from TED about one’s potential to do something. I remember the speaker said “always remember that you will become someone someday, and you can do something someday. You are someone and you can do something”. I was encouraged by her words and had suddenly much more confidence from nowhere that I am going to be someone! It motivated me because I need people’s encouragement to continue. I come from a family that believes modesty helps one to make progress while compliment and pride makes one lag behind. I did not receive much encouragement and compliment from my parents in the past.
