Smaller clusters in Stopford for staff training/development/small cohort sizes aren't ideal and aren't in good condition. Not designed for a led session.

The larger clusters are well set up and high quality.

Flexibility of large teaching spaces is very limited. More blended/flexible learning practices require spaces which are flat (not tiered) for collaboration, with plug sockets available. Good examples in MECD (ground floor) - tiered but can transform into a collaborative teaching space; suite of rooms on MECD 1st floor which can be opened up flexibly into individual rooms or larger spaces.

Booking of spaces

Need to have a clear and dependable process for booking spaces - working with a much more fluid and user friendly booking system. This will be key to having more flexible space usage. Spaces should be filtered/designated by what the spaces are intended for e.g. quiet room, quiet desk, pods

The Studio are an example of how collaborative spaces can be designed well.

It's not just pedagogy that is changing, but our working practices are changing. Should assess areas to determine whether they are set up for hybrid teaching, flexible/blended learning, do they give both staff the flexibility to work in that space. Impact assessment per space to test whether it meets spec for hybrid teaching/working.

All areas should be accessible including live streaming for events so that they feel engaged in the event - there aren't enough spaces geared towards this.
