I started my first year of kindergarten and made my first new best friend - Caitlin. We enjoyed making paintings together. I had an early love for art and creativity

Moving House

My family had to move suburbs because my dad had a new job. I had to change schools. I remember I felt nervous but soon made new friends. My new friend Jean introduced me to the game of soccer and from there I gained a real interest in all things sporty. I became quite a competitive person.

Holiday

1999 - I travelled interstate for the first time to meet my dads side of the family for the Summer holidays. I met my older cousin Kate. She introduced me to the Spice Girls and from then on, I loved listening to and learning about new music.

I also spent time getting to know my Grandma who loved cooking and taught me a few of her favourite recipes, that I still cook sometimes today.

Starting High School

I started high school. It was a big school and I met so many new friends. I joined the band, started learning to play the guitar and continue to play the guitar for fun today.

I met some of my closest friends in High School and I still catch up with them when I get the chance.

During this time, my friends and I explored parts of our identity including music, fashion, dance and other types of self expression.

Friendships/ Interests

During my last year of high school I joined a range of advocacy groups and clubs, including the climate action group. We spent time organising meetings and learning about ways that we can influence local political decisions. We even wrote a letter to the current MP for Environment.

I finished school knowing that I wanted a job that would help me to have a positive impact on the world.

First Job after University

This was my first year of teaching. I learnt a lot about what it means to be a kind, fair and inspiring teacher.

It was hard work and I learnt a lot about the importance of patience, empathy and commitment.

Teaching is a huge part of what makes my identity because I find it to be rewarding to guide, encourage and support young people to be the best that they can.

I hope I continue to learn and grow in this profession.
