If there's anything that's difficult nowadays, it's getting into America even though Assef references it like a 🤬 because they're letting anyone in.

Baba is finally proud of him, which is something Amir had to break hearts, hurt others to simply gain a hug or have his arms open for Amir to run into.

Graduating school in general is a difficult feat because education is not available to everyone, and this is where Baba is finally proud of him, which personally made my heart break because this is the one thing that Amir did that didn't hurt anyone in the process to have Baba proud of him.

Amir finds a woman, Soraya, who soon becomes his girlfriend (I think) but nonetheless, his wife. His first and last love :)<3

Towards the end of the novel, Hassan's son, Sohrab is now under Amir's care and in a much better place thanks to him. Amir can have a son. :) In the process of retrieving Sohrab, Amir is beat up by Assef because of a small deal they made: If Amir leaves with Sohrab after beating Assef up he can take him, no problem. If Assef leaves with Sohrab, Assef keeps him. Amir is being beat up and feels jubilated because this is what he needed to finally feel like he was punished for what he's done in his childhood. And doing all of this, for Sohrab, and Hassan. In my eyes, Amir is no longer a coward.

He got beat up by Assef, what much else can I say?

Amir becomes an insomniac due to being unable to cope with the guilt of watching Hassan get raped and being too afraid to help him.

If there was anything heartbreaking in this book, it's the fact that Amir never truly got affection from Baba until he graduated Highschool. And the fact that Amir was 20-21 when he graduated, is a long time.

When Amir framed Hassan to try and get him to leave, he titles himself with a cheat, a liar. And even worse (in Baba's eyes) a thief.

If love came with a consequence, it was being unable to have a child with Soraya, no matter how many times they went to the doctor, a child couldn't be beared.

Another thing that upsets me is that Amir couldn't see Hassan face to face as an adult, it would've made a lovely reunion. And knowing that Hassan passed away, with his wife by his side? Probably made him worry, especially for his son. On the topic of Hassan, Amir never had the chance to apologize to him. And anything that Amir did to gain affection from his father, Hassan paid the price.

Doing what I can, tryna be a man
Amir was robbed of a loving father; in retaliation to gain his affection Hassan pays the price in many ways. Whether it be physical pain, mental hurt, or distress. But more emotional stress. You can imagine what Hassan might be thinking, whether Amir was truly his friend or not. Amir never outright said that Hassan was his friend. :(

But you drain me out if I get too much
I might need you or I'll break. If there was anyone that went through so much emotional pain, I would say Amir. As a child, it's evident that stress from the outside world can ruin one person. But when you battle someone else for your parent's affection, and they're not even trying, is a more effective pain. Hassan is so sweet, that Amir can't stay mad at him for long, it's more of an undertone emotion that Amir feels whenever he thinks about how Hassan effortlessly gains his dad's love.

But I do, all for you
I don't want to make this hard the first line I like to think that it comes from Hassan because For you, a thousand times over, and I don't want to make this hard comes from Amir when he frames Hassan by putting money in his mattress and his watch.

And I've found hope in a heart attack When Amir is being beat up by Assef, he finally feels free from the shackles of guilt that have grown over the years from when he was a child, all of those times he's mistreated Hassan, or took advantage of him, one way or another is finally paid for, this time it was Amir who paid the price. And not Hassan.
