After a woman was accused of being a witch, she was tried by a jury. The jury however, was unfair as convicted women were stripped of their dignity in search of the mark of the devil, or any clues hinting them to be a witch. The jury would watch the "victims" of the witch shout, throw fits, and say they felt pinched as the woman was interrogated. During the trials whether you refused to or chose to admit you were a witch, you were tried regardless. Often times the best way to avoid harm was to admit you were a witch, and choose to be shunned from society. Many were falsely accused as farmers would blame their fantasies about other women on witches casting spells.
