Francisco Pizarro and Vasco Nunez de Balboa set off on a journey to Panama. Balboa was the first European to see the Pacific Ocean. Pizarro had then stayed in Panama and became very wealthy. Pizarro also became the mayor of Panama

Pizarro heard of a Magnificent ruler who lived in the mountains of Peru and he was very rich. King Charles of Spain sponsored Pizarro and said he could go. King Charles also said that any land that he conquered he could govern.

To gain land Pizarro killed an Incan leader who was Important to the Incas. He defeated the Incas and claimed Cuzco. Sometime after that he founded Lima, Peru and became the governor of the capital of Peru.
