When I went to practicum I faced with problems which interrupts my class from learning, some of my students didn't want to attend activities and not just that, they also disturb other students as well. So, I said to myself " I can do it, I can make these students active" and started my research.

I often struggle to keep students fully engaged, especially during certain activities in English classes. While some students actively participate, others lose interest, becoming passive or distracted. Understanding the factors that cause this issue is crucial for having more dynamic and interactive lessons. To explore this issue, I analysed my own reflective notes, administered a survey with students, and held discussions with experienced teachers. My presentation will explore the reasons behind students' lack of attentiveness in English classes that I learned at the exploratory stage and suggest strategies to enhance engagement and motivation that I implemented at the action stage of my research.

I started to use the ways such as paying attention to students' interests and use it in my activities or make activities based on topic which they are encouraged

Even from the first class, I started to notice the results such as noisy class(comes positive in this situation), wanting to sit at the front seats, eager to get to the stage

This motivated me to teach more, and it also gave me hope to be good at my job.

Observing other teachers' lessons gave me the biggest solution, because while seeing their teaching methods and ways they use, I realised my mistakes and by observing my class, they cleared more problems which I wasn't paying attention to.

Before we started our research, I was stressed out and also a bit excited, because I hadn't done any research but after explaining by our teachers I understood that it wasn't terrifying but fun to have solutions for our questions that didn't give a sleep to us. This research gave me an opportunity to make myself better at teaching and handling class. I thought I was boring to students, and they wouldn't give attention to my lesson, but in fact I wasn't and by some advice I started to make better classes and started to encourage more students.

In my case, I did my exploratory stage lesson with my groupmates, who are already good at English and really active. I didn't face any problems in class, but the problem was choosing the wrong activity. I chose the role play activity, which takes much time, and we didn't have enough time to do it.

My teachers observed my lesson and provided feedback about my improvements. The thing I should do was not to repeat the mistakes, such as not including time, I needed a strong lesson plan, which considers every small thing, so I would not have any time that is off or lack. I had about 9 students, and I divide them into 3 groups, it was easy to control them, and identify that who is speaking in L1, and also it can conduct all students in group, there wouldn't be any student who is missing and minding their own business.

For the first question, "Did you like role-play?", 5 of the students answered No, which means the role play activity may be boring for them or hard to do.

The second question (Was the speaking level hard for you?) 5 students said Yes. This shows students have issues with speaking, which is basic for the role play activity, or they don't have enough confidence.

To the third question "Was the grammar level hard for you?", I got 6 Yes responses, which means they have really weak grammar that puts knots in students' legs when they try to speak.

The fourth question's result gave heartbreak to me. They said NO to the next role play, but it is okay, next time they will love it! The question was "Would you like to attend next role play?".
