In my opinion, I don't think he was good because he killed many of his friends, executed 6,000 men in Thebes and burned down a city. Alexander was so intimidating and scary that the Governor of Egypt surrendered. He also killed historians when he talked bad about them. The only reason he was "The Great" is because he was an excellent military warrior but that doesn't sum up his personality.

1. I don't know if he is great or not, so I'm kind of in the middle. He did some really great things but he also did some terrible things. I'm in the middle.
2. Two reasons he was called Great. One is whenever he took or conquered somewhere he would keep their religion and didn't tax them heavily. He also inspired his troops to victory and instead of staying in the back during battles he charged right in.
3. Two reasons he was terrible. He destroyed cities and killed many people. He left before Alexandria was finished and still got credit for it. He also had historians record everything and if they recorded something bad he executed them. He also killed his friends and military leaders

Alexander was not great because he enslaved every citizen in the city's he conquered. He also killed his best friend and one that had saved him. He also pretends to be the son of a god to be pharaoh of Egypt. He lied his way to the crown. Then he was great because he inspired his soldiers and was seen as a god. He was able to unite Greece and Persia by marriage. He honored the Egyptian culture and respected it. I do not think that Alexander deserves the title great.

Alexander was a good leader and you could argue that he was great the reasons why he was great was because he never lost a battle he respected the religens of people he conquared and he built the city of alexandria in egypt which was big and beautiful and he listend to his soldiers, however he did inslave 30,000 people that were women and children and he did destroy like a lot of houses and stuff and he did exacute a lot of people but still he was a good millitary leader and still let people practice their culture and think of all the people that did everything so much worse people did so much worse things and I would say that if I lived 2,000 years ago I would call him great but today I would call him Alexander the meh,Noah Micklewright

Yes Alexander did kill many people, but so did almost every other military leader and ruler at the time. Alexander spread Greek culture throughout the world, and if it wasn't for him the modern world would not be the same. He conquered 2 million square miles and defeated Persia's harsh rule over Egypt.

There are numerous reasons that Alexander could be called great or terrible. One motivation for why he was called great was that he united Persia and Greece and Macedonia. Another reason he could have been called great was that he was usually welcomed in as the son of gods and fought with a competent military tactics. But, he also did have some unlikeable traits. For example, he enslaved 40,000 people and sold off 30,000 of his own citizens to slavery. The second and final reason that supports why he was terrible is that he killed his best friend and his own child. In summation, Alexander has arguable supporting reasons as to why he was liked (great) or unliked (terrible). So, in my opinion, I think he was a powerful tyrant with a strong military strategy.

Okay, you may be thinking, "he's not THAT bad." But yeah, he was definitely THAT bad. First, he had an abusive history of alcohol. He executed his own friend who saved his life! He also executed his closest friends and advisors. Because Thebes was rebeling, he decided, "oh I'm going to destroy everything now." After, he enslaved 20,000 women and children, and KILLED 6,000 of Thebes men! So yeah, he's horrible.

He united Persia and Greece and Macedonia. He also was good at leading. He was called the terrible because he exicuded his close friends because he felt they were plotting against him. And lastly he treated his troops badly and they went against him.

But he wasn't a good person, he was known to execute his best friend because he thought he was plotting against him. He was able to take down 3 places, Greece, Persia, and Egypt. These reasons are why I think he is a great person in physicial things, but a bad person when it comes to his personality.

The are many reasons why Alexander is terrible. The first reason is Alexander spent 11 years of his life conquering other kingdoms but never returned to his own city-state. After he took down the capitol, Persepolis, he ordered his troops to burn it down. Secondly, what he did badly in Greece, was his troops pulled down walls and destroyed every home and building, except for a few temples. Yes, he did do some good stuff like, protecting the priests, BUT he killed everyone else. Third what he did in Egypt, his reputation led the Persian governor to surrender Egypt without a fight. Only those who spoke Greek were allowed to live there. Alexander the "Great" was the worse in Persia, in my opinon, Alexander executed one of the historians because Alexander didn't like what he wrote. People called Alexander a "great millitary leader," when in reality, he just used brute force instead of a well thought out tactic. So, in conclusion, Alexander the "great" is NOT great, he is terrible!
