On June 22, HMS Leopard fires on the USS Chesapeake. Then on November 11, the Great Britain passes the 1807 Orders in Council, restricting international trade with France. Then finally, on December 22, the Embargo Act was passed.

May 16, The American frigate USS President fires on the British sloop HMS Little Belt. October 9, Major General Isaac Brock is appointed Administrator of Upper Canada. November 11 Battle of Tippercanoe.

On June 18th, The United States declares war on Great Britain. Then 4 days later, A mob in Baltimore destroys the printing offices of an anti-war newspaper. Then on July 12, General William Hull invades Canada from Detroit. 5 days later Fort Michilimackinac surrenders to British-Canadian forces. Then on August 5 Skirmish near Brownstown, Michigan, then 3 days later General William Hull returns to Detroit. This is followed by a bombard in Detroit by the British. Because of this General William Hull has to surrender Detroit. 3 days later the USS Constitution defeats the HMS Guerriere. Then after this American win, British-Canadians win the Battle of Queenston Heights, Ontario. Then to end the year in December, William Henry Harrison formally resigns as Governor of Indiana Territory and takes the rank of Brigadier General. And finally on December 29th, USS Constitution defeats the HMS Java.

March 19, Winfield Scott is promoted to Brigadier General at the age of 27. March 27, Engagement at Horseshoe Bend. April 4, Napoleon abdicates and is exiled to Elba off the coast of Tuscany; Great Britain now turns its focus to the war in America. July 3, American troops under Major General Jacob Brown cross the Niagara River and capture Fort Erie. July 5, Battle of Chippawa. July 22, Treaty of Greenville. July 25, Battle of Lundy, one of the fiercest battles of the war. August 8, Peace negotiations begin. August 9, Treaty of Fort Jackson stonington, CT raid begins. August 12, Stonington Raid Ends. September was a busy month for the war as there was the Battle of Plattsburgh, then on September 11th there was the Battle of Lake Champlain. The day after the Battle of North Point this is where General Robert Ross was killed. Then the day after on the 13th there was the Bombardment of Fort McHenry. Then the day after on the 14th Francis Scott Key writes the first lines of the poem which would later become “The Star Spangled Banner”. Then later in November there was the Battle of Malcolm’s Mills and the Battle of Pensacola. Then to end things in December; Peace delegates reconvene at Ghent, then there were delegates to the Hartford Convention meet in Hartford, Connecticut. Finally on December 24th, the Treaty of Ghent is signed, 4 days later it is ratified by the British.

1815

This marked the end of the war of 1812. Quickly summarized, on January 5, the Hartford Convention concluded. Then just 3 days later, the Battle of New Orleans happened which caused the death of Edward Packenham. Then in middle February the United States Senate ratifies the Treaty of Ghent, then 2 days later on February 18 the Treaty of Ghent is declared, this means that the War of 1812 is officially over.
