Abigail kept her feeling for John, while John wanted to stay with his wife. This led to Abigail obsessing over John, and John and Elizabeth's marriage would crumble. Elizabeth was given a doll with a needle in it by Mary Warren. It was figured out that Abigail was stabbed in the chest, and officers found this doll in Elizabeth's house. They then accused this women of witchcraft since they believed she used black magic to create a voodoo doll and stab Abigail. Of course, the truth was that Abigail set this up to try and get Elizabeth killed. So the mass hysteria effects Elizabeth since she is accused of working with the 🤬, and everyone believes its true, since there is very coincidental evidence. He began to tell a rumor about how Putman was getting people accused so he could steal their land. We know that Correy and Putman were having a land dispute earlier in the book so we can assume Correy didn't have a witness as he refused to give his name. Correy was at first telling the truth but when it didn't work he lied to further his goal of freeing his wife, and stopping Putman from getting more land.

The hysteria and chaos of possible witchcraft make everyone assume that it's real. There is no real evidence that supports witchcraft, but since everyone assumes its real, they deem it the truth. He constantly dealt with internal conflict about the affair and was fighting between integrity and morality. The problem was that even if he confessed to the affair and kept his integrity/honesty intact, his reputation still would have been damaged as a moral man. This is because John is known around Salem as an honest man who lives by honor. The impact this word has on Proctor is that it impacts his internal and external conflicts with his wife, Elizabeth.
Integrity and Morality impacts Giles Corey in many ways, more than one. Giles Corey was one of, if not the only trustworthy person in Salem. Throughout the beginning of the Crucible, Corey is depicted as a foolish man. Nearing the end of the Crucible Giles Cory was formed into more of a trustworthy and reliable character.
Abigail Williams was a very big part of the crucible, playing one of the biggest parts in the story. Like John Proctor, Elizabeth struggled with integrity/honesty and being morally in just. Abigail is the source of John Proctors wrong-doing and also suffered from keeping good morals. Abigail had lied about the affair and accused elizabeth proctor of witchcraft in order to change the subject off of the affair.
