Political dysfunction worldwide is more severe than other economic recession. Covid-19 has ravaged every major economy in the world. Healthcare systems in poorer countries are under strain. Middle-income class are very vulnerable. Federal Reserve reported that covid-19 brought the worst impact to the economic activity than any recession. The unemployment rate will remain stubbornly high for the next decade. Following waves of coronavirus infections could throw more people to lose jobs. The key projects of the Belt and Road Initiative is the 12000km railway connected from London to China's city Yiwu. There are at least 68 countries and international organizations have signed on to projects. Such an investment can benefit the whole world as the trade network is wider and more convenient, and it can lift billions of people out of poverty.

China definitely gets the greatest benefit from it. As the trade network becomes wider, the international use of the Chinese currency increase dramatically. Also, the purpose of the project is to avoid the so-called middle-income trap. On the other hand, the US is not involved in the project and they worry that China’s rising power and will overtake their position.

See - What do you understand about car ownership in Singapore?
1. COE gives the owner the right to own and use the vehicle for 10 years. The COE system has served Singaporean well in controlling the overall vehicle population and avoiding the pervasive traffic gridlock.
2. ERP charges are reviewed regularly to keep traffic moving at an boptimal speed. There are different ERP operating hours on the eve of major public holidays.

Think - What do you think is the significance of COE and ERP in car ownership?
1. The use of COE has been effective in controlling the growth of vehicle population.
2. The use of ERP replaces the current Electronic Road Pricing system and vehicles do not stop or slow down to pay tolls which makes the charging more convenient.
3. When there is a reduction of vehicles on the road, it will be more efficient use of our roads, smoother flowing traffic and less pollution.

Wonder - How successful has COE been in achieving its goal?
1. the annual growth rate was reduced from 3% to 0.25% from 2009 to 2017. Will the next generation give up car ownership in the future ?
2. Within the restricted zone itself, traffic has gone down by about 13% during ERP operational hours, with vehicle numbers dropping from 270,000 to 235,000. How can people deal with the peak hour if MRT, buses, and the road are crowded?
3.

References
1.https://www.mot.gov.sg/About-MOT/Land-Transport/Motoring/Vehicle-Ownership/
2.https://www.onemotoring.com.sg/content/onemotoring/home/driving/ERP.html
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_Road_Pricing
3.http://transportationinsingapore.blogspot.com/2012/03/advantages-and-disadvantages-of-erp.html

Once done, proceed to finish up the following cloze passage.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LHLOOa8DfLXO6PNOiq30gSDgPo2mNlPSjBZ0P2bZpgU/edit

TEEF is a technique that may be used in figuring and writing out the first paragraph of your expository, discursive or argumentative essay. The technique is an acronym for Thesis Statement, Explain, Elaborate and Framework.

Using TEEF as a guide, you are to use at least four sentences to develop your introduction.
_________________________________________________

Using what has been taught, use TEEF to develop an introductory paragraph for at least three questions from the ten-year series.

Question 1
“ People should always tell the truth.” Do you think there are any situation in which this might not be the best thing to do? Explain your views. (Oct/Nov 2015)

It is vital for people to tell the truth. Telling truth may solve an argument and help you to search things. Truth can let others know what really happened and clear the wrong to others, and this will minimise conflict between people. In this essay, I am going to introduce my views on the necessity of telling truth.

Question 2
‘ The world would be a very dull place without music.’ What are your views? (Oct/Nov 2017)

Without music, the world will lose its colours. For me, music is a need for my life as it cures me and brings happiness to me. Through listening to music, the song can pass its feeling to comfort you. That makes music’s uniqueness to many people. In this essay, I will explain further about how music influences our lives.

Question 3
‘ The way we dress reveals who we are.’ What are your views?

Using FEET as a guide, you are to write the conclusion for the three introductions that were written in session 6.

Question 1

“ People should always tell the truth.” Do you think there are any situation in which this might not be the best thing to do? Explain your views. (Oct/Nov 2015)

Those points above prove telling truths is necessary. Telling truths indeed lower the possibility for conflicts to happen between people. This will help us to avoid arguments and maintain our relationship with others. Therefore, I argue that telling truths in some situations may be the best thing to do.

Question 2

‘ The world would be a very dull place without music.’ What are your views? (Oct/Nov 2017)

The essay above indicates the good influences brought by music. The lyrics in songs bring us a better ability of empathy and we can be inspired by that and stay strong. More people will become optimistic and they can overcome the difficulties they faced. Hence, the world would be very dull once music is gone.

Question 3

‘ The way we dress reveals who we are.’ What are your views? (Oct/Nov 2013)

The essay above conveys the idea that clothes show who we are. The outfit we chose reflect most of ourselves. The outlook reveals our careers, tastes, levels. In a nutshell, I think the way we dress reveals who we are is true in a large extent.
_________________________________________________

Using one of the questions above, craft an essay to address one of the questions.
