Many Muslim kingdoms rejected women in their societies. Many women were put down due to their religion and role in their society. Muslim and Hindu allowance for women was very little they mainly followed the men and changed to the mans religion when married. South Asia, were many people were Hindu and Islamic it was popular to see separate social sphere for women. As more and more, women converted to Muslim they surprisingly lost their freedom. Even though confined into a room or a spirit society, they had freedom. But when converted to Muslim because of the arrival of Islam, they became more strict because they would follow the husbands around.

Margery Kempe-An english mystic.
She wrote one of the earliest autobiographies, if not the first. It was about her pilgrimages to Jerusalem and the life of a middle-class medieval woman. She also could not read or write and dedicated her book to the scribes that wrote down her descriptions.

The fact she could not read or write shows the lack of educational opportunities for women during that time.

Throughout Asia, Confucian principles expected women to defer to men as part of the quintessential family unit. During the Tang and the Song dynasties, this belief was further cemented. Foot binding was a common practice, and in fact continued to be practiced into the 20th century — this precluded women from full mobility by thwarting the development of their feet. The ubiquitous merit-based bureaucracies diffused throughout the continent did not generally consider women.

In sub saharan Africa, women often occupied what we think of as traditional roles today. Women were responsible for the collection of fruits along with general agricultural practices.
