  • Establish joint attention with LEBA through the use of a touch cue. Touch cues should begin with a tap on LEBA’s elbow, slowly bringing your hand down her arm until your hand is underneath LEBA’s hand.


    1. Establish the topic. Let LEBA know that she will be making a choice by introducing it with the object symbol for “choice making” paired with spoken language by saying, “Time to make a choice”. 

    2. Bring your hand to her elbow and bring your hand under her hand. Introduce each choice on the felt board through tactile touch and spoken language. 


    1. Wait for LEBA to respond after each choice. Repeat steps two and three until the child has been introduced to all of her choices.


    1. Prompt LEBA to make a choice by using a touch cue to guide her toward the felt board.
