4. TREK OUT OF EGYPT

God sent ten plagues on Egypt because the Pharaoh

refused to let his people go. The tenth plague, in which

Pharaoh's son died, he finally released them, yet

hardening his heart afterwards. God parted the Red

Sea so the Israelites could escape.

3. RETURN TO EGYPT

The Lord appeared to Moses in the form

of a burning bush.

The Lord told Moses He had heard the

Israelites suffering, and He wanted Moses

to take them out of bondage.

Moses was afraid the Pharaoh would not

listen to him, so the Lord gave him his brother

Aaron to help speak to the Pharaoh.

With a rod in hand given by God, Moses returned to Egypt.

2. FLEEING EGYPT

One day, Moses came across an Egyptian

beating a Hebrew, one of his people, and

quietly killed and hid him. When the pharaoh heard the news Moses fled for his life and went to Midian, where he

helped the seven daughters of a priest, who invited him as a guest and gave him his daughter Zipporah. They married and had a son named Gershom, saying "I have been a sojourner in a foreign land." A sojourner is someone stays somewhere temporarily, and this foreshadowed what Moses would later be called to do.

During that time the Pharaoh of Egypt died.

6. THE PROMISE LAND

Moses was not allowed to enter the Promised Land because

he disobeyed a direct command from God.

God told Moses to speak to the stone but instead
struck it with his staff. He then took credit for bringing
out the water instead of acknowledging God.

He died within sight of the Promised Land.

5. JOURNEY IN THE DESERT/ THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

In the desert, the Israelites complained many times of how

gruesome the journey was. They faced many hardships

including thirst, hunger, and the Amalekites.

40 years were spent in the desert awaiting

entrance to the Promised Land.

During that time, Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights

on Mount Sinai, where the Lord gave him the the Ten

Commandments-laws in which everyone would have to obey.

Coming down, Moses saw that the Israelites had sinned by

making a golden calf and worshipping it. In his anger, he threw

the Ten Commandments at them; the Lord gave him a second set

but told him there would be no other after this.

1. BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD

At the time of Moses' birth, the Pharaoh ordered the death

of all newborn Hebrew boys, so Moses' mother placed

him in a basket and sent him afloat the Nile River hoping

he would survive.

Moses was found by the Pharaoh's daughter who

adopted and raised him as her son.
