Tests and quizzes, especially in AP courses, are written at a much higher level than I expected. Seriously, multiple choice questions have answers that are so similar, it's incredibly hard to chose. Also, I feel like I've seen questions on tests that aren't stated in the reading material or notes/discussions in class.

Contrary to what many teachers will say to coax you into doing as many activities (their activities) as possible, there is such a thing as too much. Trust me you will not be able to take orchestra, band, show choir, AP, two science classes, all honors, plus a ton of other extracurricular like sports while still maintaining your sanity. You will have homework everyday in basically all your classes. You will spend hours doing it. Expect at least 3 tests/quizzes weekly, at least 5 if you're taking all honors or AP classes. The severe jump in work load was a shock to say the least as no teachers had prepared us for it in middle school.

Teachers leave the responsibility of studying up to you, they don't get on your back and don't track you down for your work. They just give you zeros. It wasn't the "hardest" part of the transition, but it was defenitely a change.

They are still being way nicer and more laid back on everything. Don't ever think you can turn things in late and get an 80% on it because most likely you will receive a 0.
