Bok’s passing inspired Keesh because wen Keesh speaks up to the council, he uses his fathers legacy. In the text, Keesh stated, “For that I know my father, Bok, was a great hunter, I speak these words. It is said that Bok brought home more meat than any of the two best hunters , that his own hands he attended to the division of it-“ Keesh had brought up his father’s name in the council as a way to show he deserved more food than the others. Because of his father’s legacy, he felt he and his mother should receive more meat than the rest of the village. Another quote that shows that Keesh is inspired by his father’s actions is when Keesh stated, “My mother has no one, save me: wherefore I speak. As I say, thought Bok be dead because he hunted over-keenly, it is just that I, who his son, and that Ikeega, who is my mother, and was his wife, should have meat in plenty so long that there be meat in plenty in the tribe.” This quote shows how Keesh was standing up for his mother’s name using the sacrificial death of his father.

In The Story Of Keesh, one individual who motivated the main protagonist, which in this case is Keesh, would be the councilman. Mostly because they didn't take him seriously. For instance, ''There was much laughter when Keesh spoke of hunting. The laughter followed Keesh as he left the council meeting." This demonstrates how the councilman had no faith in Keesh and took him as a joke, which then motivated him to try and to prove to everyone his full potential. Another example is, "The next day, Keesh started out for the shore, where the land meets the ice. Those who watched saw that he carried his bow and many arrows." This shows how Keesh wastes no time to start proving the councilman wrong by going out and hunting.

One individual who motivated the main protagonist (Keesh) is his father Bok. His father impacted him because he was the person who inspired Keesh to stand up for himself and prove that he is as good as his father. In the story is states, "It is said that Bok brought home more meat than any of the two best hunters, that with his own hands he attended to the division of it, that with his own eyes he saw to it that the least old woman and the last old man received fair share." This piece of evidence shows that his father died being a great man and was very brave. He also was the greatest hunter in the village because of the amount of meat he brought home, and he also divided the meat equally among everybody in the village. In the text it also states, "Take this now, ye men, for my last word. Bok, my father, was a great hunter. I, too, his son, shall go and hunt the meat that I eat." This example shows what Keesh said to the council and compares himself to his father and he says that he is as great as his father and that he can hunt his own food. So this shows that Keesh's father, Bok, inspired him to be the great hunter that he is and become the headman of the village.

To prove this point, if Keesh went up to the council to discuss the lack of meat in the village for everyone, and Massuk never stated, "Shall the babies in arms tell us men the things we shall do?", Keesh would have never been motivated to go out and hunt equal amounts of meat for everyone by himself. To further prove this point, Keesh responded to Massuk by stating, "Never shall I speak in the council again, never again till the men come to me and say, 'It is well, Keesh, that thou shouldst speak, it is well and it is our wish."

The Story of Keesh includes several different characters that has an impact on the protagonist, Keesh. Bok is mentioned throughout the short story, which is Keesh father. The text states “Bok, my father, was a great hunter. I, too, his son, shall go and hunt meat that I eat.” This quote shows that Bok is what provoked to Keesh to go hunt on his own and provide the village with resources. By stating how Bok was a “great hunter” and that he would follow in his footsteps. Afterwards, the text states “As his father before had done before him, he saw to it that at least old women and the last old man received a fair portion, keeping no more for himself than his needs required.” In this part of the excerpt, Keesh does this because that is what his father used to do when he brought back meat before him. Therefore, the character Bok motivated Keesh in “The Story of Keesh”.

Keesh was inspired by his father, and so he followed in his fathers' footsteps in becoming a hunter. Keesh's father was one individual that impacted Keesh's life.

He impacted Keesh's life by going against him and was trying to put him down. For example the text states "and one day Ugh-Gluk taxed him with witchcraft to his face." Furthermore," that boy should speak in council! old Ugh-Gluk was mumbling" This illustrates that Ugh-Gluk thinks that he should speak but goes against him when he becomes too successful and that motivated him to start hunting.

The text states that, “The father of Keesh had been a very brave man, but he had met his death in a time of famine, when he sought to save the lives of his people by taking the life of a great polar bear.” This quote states that Bok sacrificed himself to a polar bear in order to save his starving village. This saved many lives, but since people are prone to forget, nobody remembered the deed of Keesh’s father. Keesh was getting poor quality meat, so he decided to speak to the council. Bok motivated him because since he was a hunter, Keesh felt that he had a reason to speak his grievances to the council. The text states, “Though Bok be dead because he hunter over-keenly, I, who am his son, and that Ikeega, who is my mother and was his wife, should have meat in plenty.” This quote states that Keesh told the council that he should be getting more meat because he was the son of Bok. After the council’s rejections, Keesh decided that it would be better to hunt on his own. When he hunted, he apportioned the meat equally to the village, just like how his father did. This is how Bok inspired Keesh to speak in the council and hunt for his family.

The individual that impacted Keesh's life is his father, Bok. Bok impacted Keesh's life because he was someone who gave Keesh the will to survive and inspire him to become a great hunter like his deceased farther. From example from the "The Story Of Keesh" it states the following " Bok , my father was a great hunter, I too,his son, shall go and hunt the meat that I eat. And be it known now that the division of that which I kill shall be fair . And no widow nor weak one shall cry in the night because there is no meat". The example shows that Keesh is able to recognize the great deeds his father has done and wants to follow his path by bringing meat to his tribe so they wont starve to death. Another example from the "The Story Of Keesh" it states the following "Early next morning, however Keesh strode into the village. But he came not shamefacedly. Across his shoulders he bore a burden of fresh-killed meat and there was importance in his step of arrogance in his speech". The example shows that Keesh was able to show that he is able to hunt and made those doubt him think twice because he was able to bring back meat to his starving tribe. The individual Bok was a inspiration to Keesh which helped him work toward his goal of becoming a great hunter.

One individual that had an impacted Keesh was Ugh-Gluk. He impacted Keesh because Ugh- Gluk threatened Keesh with beatings and punishment. "The anger boiled a white heat. They ordered him to bed, threatened that he should have no
meat at all, and promised him sore beatings for his presumption. Keesh's eyes began to
flash, and the blood to pound darkly under his skin. In the midst of the abuse he sprang". But near the end of the story Ugh-Gluk was so threatened by keesh that he sent two other hunters Bim and Bawn to see how Keesh was getting all this meat because they thought he was doing witchcraft. "And Ugh-Gluk withdrew discomfited, the women laughing at him as he walked away. But
in the council one night, after long deliberation, it was determined to put spies on his track
when he went forth to hunt, so that his methods might be learned. So, on his next trip, Bim
and Bawn, two young men, and of hunters the craftiest, followed after him, taking care not
to be seen. After five days they returned, their eyes bulging and their tongues a- tremble to
tell what they had seen. The council was hastily called in Klosh-Kwan's dwelling, and Bim
took up the tale." At the end of the story Keesh was the highest official in the clan."And this is the story of Keesh, who lived long ago on the rim of the polar sea. Because he
exercised headcraft and not witchcraft, he rose from the meanest IGLOO to be head man of
his village, and through all the years that he lived, it is related, his tribe was prosperous, and
neither widow nor weak one cried aloud in the night because there was no meat

Evidence from the text to support "Take this now, ye men, for my last word. Bok, my father, was a great hunter. I, too, his son, shall go hunt the meat that I eat." After the council denied Keesh's request for more meat, he took it upon himself to go hunt more, and he was inspired by Bok to do so.

In "The Story of Keesh", There are many people who motivate Keesh. One of the characters that motivate Keesh is his father Bok. For example, Bok impacted Keesh because he inspires him to be confident and helped stand up to the council. When Keesh was standing up to the council, he brought up his father's name when stating "As I say, though Bok be dead because of hunting over-keenly, it is just that I, who am his son, and that Ikeega, who is my mother and was his wife, should have plenty of meat as long as there be meat in plenty in the tribe. I, Keesh, the son of Bok, have spoken". In this quote Keesh speaks confidently and passionately of his father. This shows that he is inspired by his father. In addition, he also states "For that I know my father, Bok, was a great hunter, I speak these words. It is said that Bok brought home more meat than any of the two best hunters, that with his own hands he attended to the division of it, that with his own eyes he saw to it that the least old woman and the last old man received fair share". In this quote, Keesh is talking about how his father was strong and was able to hunt better than most and he also talks about how he was fair as well. He confronts the council about how it is different now and they reject him. Keesh then follows his father's example by going out to hunt and distributing the meat equally among his village to prove the elders wrong. Keesh is following his father's footsteps as a hunter. The fact that Keesh speaks so fondly of his Father and does his best to be like him, greatly shows that Bok is one of the main people who motivated him.

One individual who has impacted Keesh's life and motive forever is his father Bok. Who his father was as a brave man and hunter inspired him to be the same and to follow in his footsteps. His fathers absence in his life shaped him to have high confidence and have passion in his hunting regardless of the doubts made by the council. For example, in the story of Keesh it states, "It was at a council, one night, in the big igloo of Klosh-Kwan ,the chief, that Keesh showed the blood that ran in his veins and the manhood that stiffened his back." This shows that that using phrases such as "and the manhood that stiffened his back" it shows how life shaped into who he is today. Also, in the text it states, " Bok, my father , was a great hunter.I,too his son shall go out and hunt the met that I eat. This evidence reveals that Keesh is inspired by his father in the aspect of hunting and he too will do the same.
