However, I have multiple things to say about this. First, is this correlation without causation? When the study was done they linked depression to romance, but where are the external factors? What caused the teens to go into romance? Did romance actually cause the depression, or the other way around? The second thing I must say is the study. One major thing that the article was lacking was that who tends to fall in love and seek romance? Do the teens who try to seek romance have poor parents, don't get along with others, live in poverty, live luxurious lives? Is there a certain group of people who are getting depressed because as it is stated, not all teens have depression when they are in romance. Without knowing this, I cannot believe that teen love hurts. Thirdly, how serious is the depression that is caused? How is teen love hurting when the depression caused is not affecting their lives at all? The teens who have depression as a result of romance may as well be living perfectly fine lives with or with out the depression. Ok, another thing is Alcohol and Delinquency. But this can be easily rebutted because when there is a "small increase", without quantifiable evidence, a increase is an increase. A 100% increase and a 0.001% increase are both considered increases. Next, I must ask a question. A easily convinced reader reads this and says, wow there are so many bad things that come out of a romance! But, without closer analysis, one can assume that. According to the article it is assumed that ALL romance causes depression. While the article is focused on the bad, were are the goods? I believe that It is better to prepare a teen for life ahead than to wait and have a teen learn what life really is. Is a romance really hurting? Or is it simply preparing a teen for what life is about ahead. Last thing to say would be that this article is going from Claim-Warrant and is leaving out the impact. What are the true effects of having depression? Is depression really hurting the teens, or is this article simply saying something that is pointless without impacts.
