Two years later, Pip is sent to the house of Miss Havisham, a middle-aged woman, to entertain her. There the young Pip meets Estella, who falls madly in love. The desire of the woman was to take revenge on all men since she was planted on her wedding day. Estella repeatedly treated him cruelly and made fun of his clothes, partly because of the training he received from Miss Havisham. Pip wanted to be a gentleman so that he could be worthy of Estella's love. In one of his visits to the Satis House, Pip fights with another young man. After a long time, Miss Havisham decides that Pip stops going to his house to be instructed as a blacksmith, just like his brother-in-law, Joe.Already in the city, Pip has to live with a roommate named Herbert Pocket, a boy with whom he had fought in the Satis House, after recognizing each other they become great friends while Pip begins his training as a gentleman with his tutor Matthew Pocket, father of Herbert. While the young Pip is educated, he is denied knowing the name of his benefactor, although he quickly thought it was Miss Havisham, also coming to think that Estella was part of his projects.
Living in London like a gentleman, Pip did not remember his old friends Joe and Biddy, who was madly in love with him. The death of his sister was the reason for Pip to make one of the few visits he made to his friends.
