▹ I tend to write in third pov, multi paragraphs as well. sometimes it can be lengthy and I don't think I can write such a novella lol but I often mirror my partner's and try to match up with the lengths as I am considering the efforts my partner's gave me with their replies.

mina was born into a life that existed only in the margins, carefully hidden from the world by a man whose name carried weight in places where power was not spoken but understood. to the outside world, she didn't existed. just a quiet child raised in secluded estate on the outskirts of kyoto. her father was a yakuza - meanwhile her mother is a girl that his father took from a family.

her life at first glance was beautiful. she was given everything, from private tutors, classical educations, ballet lessons, she was taught how to exist in a way that left no room for error. but mina realized, perfection wasn't the actual goal.

control was.

the people around her were kind but distant, attentive but never warm. even as a child, she noticed the patterns. the way conversations stopped when she entered the room, the way her actions were quietly reported, and mostly the way nothing in her life felt entirely - hers.

she was being raised but also being observed. there was only one person who ever broke this pattern. he was not meant to be matter - a mere caretaker - named shigeru was assigned to oversee her daily routine, he spoke to her differently, just normally. overall, he was generous and show his genuine care for her. that time, mina once thought, she was also capable to express what she wants, and it makes her happy.

with him, mina felt like a person and perhaps that's why everything fell apart. it happened on a day that felt no different like others.

quiet morning. a simple mistake was she was asking some question about shigeru. about his whereabouts. but it was already too late. no explanation, no farewell and just gone. and the truth followed later on, not in words but in silence. mina finally understood.

he was gone.

because of her.

the realizations settled into her chest slowly, guilt came first - sharp and suffocating. one day - she was summoned. her father, takahiro simply looked at her, with such approvals look on his features, and somehow the thought scared her.

it didn't take long for mina to understand. she was not being protected, but being prepared. and the most terrifying part wasn't the world she was being pushed into - but how easily she began to adapt to it. that realization is enough to planted her escape. not out of rebellion or anger, but out of fear.

fear that if she stayed any longer, there would be nothing left of her that wasn't molded by that world. and she wants nothing to do with this world anymore.

so she planned her escape with her cousin, her only ally became her accomplice. every detail was accounted for, and every risks measured. and yet - when the night finally came, something surely felt wrong.

security was lighter than expected, all the obstacles dissolved as if the path had already been prepared. but mina ignored it. bc freedom was right in front of her. and she had already lost too much to turn back.

the one who ensure her escape, a loyal figure who had watched mina over for the years, never made it out with them. whether she was caught or sacrificed herself to buy time, mina never found out.

just like shigeru, now she carries both of their memories with her.
