The author shows the terrible things as anonymous because during the Holocaust, the Nazis often came to people and took them away for no reason. In the book, the terrible things did the same to the animals. They categorized them, and slowly all the animals disappeared. The same thing happened to the victims of the Holocaust. The S.S. officers and Nazis categorized them and took them away to camps. They stripped them of their possessions and threw them in a cattle car going to the camps.

In the story, the anonymous act like S.S. Officers or Nazis that take they heir victims away into concentration camps.

Since no one stood up for one another, they all disappeared.

The one good person in the story is the little rabbit who thought something odd was going on and kept asking why these things were happening. Eventually the little rabbit went to tell others what was happening so others could be prepared. The only reason (I hope), the little rabbit didn't go tell other people at first was because the big rabbit kept telling him everything was fine and that the government doesn't need a reason.

The story is directed to people who did not live through or experience the holocaust. It describes the way a lot of the Jews thought how the ‘bad things’ or the Nazis wouldn’t harm them and that they would be fine. The author describes the story this way so people could understand and imagine why the Jewish thought that they would be fine.
