This was my favorite moment in the olympics because Wilma overcame many disabilities and sicknesses as a child. She helped pave the way during the civil and women's rights movements. There was then a story written about her life. She was a very important person in the 1960/1970s.

He was competing in the 400 meter race. When he was almost half way finished with the race he tore his hamstring. He fell to the ground and stretchers were coming to him but he refused to get on it before he finished the race. His father made his way to him fighting security and helped Derek finish the lap. He finished the lap and the audience gave him a standing ovation. What was the event:American Rulon Gardner's wrestling match against Russian Alexander Karelin

Why is this my favorite moment:
Russian Greco-Roman wrestler Alexander Karelin was invincible.He was the three-time defending Olympic champion.Not only had he never lost he reportedly hadn't allowed apoint to be scored on him in six years.So when Karelin lost his grip on a lock, giving Gardner a point,The judges even had to confirm what they had just seen on video replay.Since neither wrestler scored the three points needed for victory at the end of the round, the match went to a three-minute overtime. Before the match, Gardner's wife, Stacy, had said she feared for her husband. "I hear Karelin paralyzed people before," she said. But Gardner withstood Karelin's ferocious assaults in the overtime period, and with the crowd chanting, "U-S-A! U-S-A!" held on for one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history.

    This is my favorite olympic story because even though she was so tall and was bullied by people she used her height as an advantage instead of whining around saying “why do I have to be so much taller than everyone” by doing that she got in the olympics and proved to everyone that her tallness is not a bad thing.

His dad leaped over the gate separating the track and the seats, and helped his son finish the race.
