The history of China lasted as the rise and fall of dynasties up to the year 1911. The Qin (pronounced chin) Dynasty lasted from only 221-207 B.C., but is known for beginning the Great Wall, making the Terracotta Army, and standardizing the script. It is from their dynasty China received its name. After the rise and fall of several more dynasties and periods of war, the Mongols took over and made Beijing the capital. They prospered in trade and knowledge, as it was during this time Marco Polo and other Europeans traded using the silk road; furthermore, the inventions of old such as paper making, gunpowder, printing, and compasses were improved upon. It was by the 1840s that war came between Britain and China during the Opium wars. China had told Britain that they had no need for Britain's goods, but the British were importing silk, tea, and ceramics, in return for opium they grew in India. When China banned opium and dumped vast amounts into the sea, Britain attacked, and overcame, the Chinese military. This forced China to open up five ports and gave them Hong Kong. The Revolution of 1911 took place leaving room for warlords and the Nationalist Party, and in 1920, the Communist party was established. Eleven years later, in 1931, Japan invaded the Manchuria region of China, and the Nationalists and Communists joined forces against Japan. However, by 1941, the two parties broke down and fought in a civil war, in which the Communists succeeded, sending the Nationalist to Taiwan. Mao Zedong led the Communists, creating The People's Republic of China, a authoritarian one-party state. He worked to bring China together and make it more powerful; he tried to industrialize China, however, due to the lack of people left in agriculture, the there were many famines killing more than 40 million people. He led it to the industrial power and communist nation it is today.

China is the world’s largest agricultural economy with farming, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries accounting for approximately 10% of its GDP. This percentage is much higher than developed countries, such as the United States, the United Kingdom and Japan, where agriculture makes up about 1% of GDP. The chart below shows the trend in the share of agriculture in GDP (1983-2013). Though the percentage has gradually decreased over the years, it still accounts for approximately 34% of the total employed population. Over the last seven years, the share of agriculture as part of GDP has held more or less constant at 10%.

Industry is the bigger contributor (84% of the secondary industry), while construction accounts for just 7% of overall GDP. The chart below shows the percentage of secondary industry in China’s GDP from 1983 to 2013.

-GDP per capita: $15,400
-China's economic structure: They have a Socialist Market Economy and is based off of the Chinese economic reforms introduced under Deng Xiaoping. It is mainly based on the dominance of the state-owned sector and an open-market economy.
-Worker productivity: China has a major import/export industry which is how they get much of their money from. China did not have many skilled workers so they educated people in those fields of work. This took out many other jobs which from where they were getting soon to be skilled workers from. They had to maintain their status quo so instead they started paying foreigners to do the skilled jobs in China for them.
- Access to raw materials: China has a lot of raw materials within its borders. Mainly because they are such a huge country geographically speaking. They also import a lot of their materials to. Some of the things that they export as raw materials come back as a finished product when imported from other countries.
-Availability of consumer goods: They have a high availability of consumer goods because of they're high amount of imports. More recently, they have had to set a limit to their production of some items because their supply is higher than their demand.

-Educational ranking: All eyes are on China because this is the first year they have been included in the comparison as a non-OECD education system. China ranked number 1 worldwide in reading, math, and science with Hong Kong very close behind.
-Literacy rate: China's literacy rate is about 96.4%. This means that almost all citizens of China that are 15 years or older can read and write.
-Health and welfare systems: China's government runs all of the major medical facilities, which helps out with their great task of providing for all of China's immense number of citizens. They though, face the issue of weather to stress good care or to spread a scarce number of medical resources as much as possible. The Ministry of Public Health of the State Council is in control of the health services systems around all of China. China's citizens overall health has also greatly increased since 1949, due mostly to their change in health policies.
