After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O'Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose "help" quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.

The genre known as Horror is meant to make you feel scared, anxious and nervous. Horror usually involves characters relating to supernatural beings. The horror genre comes from folklore and religious traditions, leaning towards the ideas of, death, the afterlife, demonic beings and evilness. Horror movies and or books, provokes emotions that can make a person believe that supernatural beings such as ghost, vampires, werewolves, etc. exist. Most horror genre authors, get their inspirations from other authors, past experiences, or just because they have a love for horror. Horror books/movies tell meaningful stories about a person or a event from history. Although the horror genre is known for making people feel scared, it has some information that some people might have not had any knowledge of. In the world of horror, you get to step inside of the mind of the author. You get to experience what goes on in their heads through, books, TV shows, movies, etc. You get to experience someone else's story as well as feel the fear that they felt.
