Task 2 - A different Perspective
In the week 3 we have a group discussion about how Brexit will affect by each of our life and our country. What to surprise is the way that our group member from European country such as Garman and Sweden, they both think that Brexit will not really affect them, when they have hold a EU passport and also it might be good for them, some big company are thinking of moving to EU. However, I have held a different opinion with them, and is not because I came from an Asian country, is because I think we have seen this event in the different period and range. In the short period and small range, it still has taken a while for UK to leave European Union, it won’t be any huge impact with EU students in the UK also with the EU business in the UK. Weather it still has the same amount of EU students be willing to move to UK to have university education or not might be questionable. In the long period and wild range, as what I have seen so far, it would have a huge impact between EU and UK. For example, take agricultural products, Britain imports 56% of its agricultural products with no tariff or quality review. After Brexit, the market between EU and UK it might get blocked. On the one hand, it would be a loss of UK, because UK have limited landscape, and lack of the ability to self-sufficient. On the other hand, there are over 3 million EU workers currently working in the UK, it is still questionable whether they could still work in the UK after Brexit, also it linked to the employee’s family member’s right of abode. However, the Brexit is still not officially finish yet, it is necessary for us to keep an optimistic attitude towards this event just like my classmates, it also should have concern about this event from my perspective

Task 3 - Self awareness
In the week 5 seminar, we have watched a video of Ted speech. It was about how danger is every keep silence and afraid to speak out loud about what they actually thought in their head. We have written down our own perspective after watch that video. However, in the group discussion session, I found out some of my classmates wrote" speak what you feel right". In my perspective, I think it’s better to speak what makes people comfortable and happy instead of silence and the sentence that you feel is right. I came up with those ideas was because in my underlying values I believe everyone should notice the importance of perspective-taking. Sometime when speak what you feel right is not equal to what other people feels right. That’s because sometime we don’t know that we are lacking of empathy ability. That’s why I chose to speak what makes people comfortable instead of speak what I feels right. Secondly, I came from a society that is socialist. That’s represent wealth and power are balanced, governments take control the economy. In other words, that is a human relationship society, compare to the western countries, we are not living the society with total freedom of expression. When the power restriction and influenced by each other, the experience told us it’s better to have the communication that make everyone comfortable. I don’t look the way that this is an undesirable society. However, that’s the feature of socialist, furthermore, China is still in the primary stage of socialism, the most of the power are still be hold by the government, the people which are working in the department that belonging to the government have control the most resource allocation decision, that’s the reason we have to speak carefully when we are “ask for help”

Reflection on task 5

During the Monday 2nd December, we had an event in the meeting hall. There was a lot new idea came from my classmates and other courses in the university. I found out that some of the idea was really attractive to me. However, I found some of the idea might not been so popular when it compared with others. I believe that’s because we all have our own way to consider the community and society. Considered as my perspective, I found out the group of “Reduce the meat intake” is a really interesting idea. I have not heard this idea before, but during the meeting I have discussed this idea with my friends and the group that made this idea. It actually will help the people to improved environment, but we also should consider other elements that will be affected due to the meat intake action. After researching through some linking message, I believe eliminating animal husbandry and using other foods to provide animal meat nutrition will put great pressure on upstream food supply links, resulting in resource waste and environmental pollution that are several times greater than developing animal husbandry. The lead event experience actually helped me to broaden my idea and push me to keen for more knowledge through those topics. I would not be able to came up with those ideas on my own unless there is an opportunity has been provided and everyone was immersed in this atmosphere of exchanging ideas with others. Besides I found out there was another idea that really popular, it was the one group that made a “Creator Club”. I believe the reason that this idea was popular is due to some of the student, especially me found out we are lacking of communication with others in the university. It’s fact that the university in London has huge different compare with the university in another place such as Bristol, Exeter… London have offered more available resources that could give to students and make students more independent, university are no longer become their main element in their life, especially like regent’s university (as a private university). In this case, this club could provide more chance and give a platform for student to communicate with each other and exchange their ideas.

Final review

Final review

As the module name says, it’s global perspective, during the lecture and seminar time, I found out this module have help me to broaden my idea and brings me a lot innovation idea from both the teachers and my classmates. I think the best way to describe this module is a flexible platform that provide communication through each student. As the Regents university main features, we have so many students that came from different countries. Even though there are only a few students that came from Asian countries like me, but that’s what I found the most interesting thing, I am purely enjoy to communicate with other countries students. In the seminar time we are always been sprite to a small group which bring us close. I have gained so much new perspective from my classmates, the most interesting thing I found during the discussion part, most of the students which are came from European countries has expend their idea most from the individual part, compared with them, most of the Chinese students ( some of my friends in the university) including me has expend our idea from the country level and I believe it’s not about how European students does not care about their country, it is about they have already live in the country that have finished country development, they have ability to manage their own society. However, we as a Chinese, will still rely on the national development to getting improved our life. We have discussed how Brexit will affect our life, my teammates have described as none huge impact in their life, it is the fact that if they have considered the event start from their own life. It taught me that we have to look at thing in different ways every time, also it helps me to know how European students think of their life so far. In China people always said, “to absorb the essence and reject the dross”. I would describe that as my strengths as a learner. I have paid attention to every group brainstorm, one the one hand, I would like my teammates to understand my idea and hopefully getting some feedback or reflection from them, then I would know in which way people recognized my idea, is the idea accord with their value conception systems, what is the different between us, especially we all came from different continent. On the other hand, I would considered whether the idea is suitable for me or not, every idea could be right but not every idea is suitable, I have gain the knowledge and the way of thinking, meanwhile, it give me the opportunity to think which idea is more useful on my own development, especially will benefits when I move to the official work after university.

Task 4

Task 4

In the lead event, we had been introduced some urgent challenge facing the global community, I believed most the students have already know the threat from climate change (global warming), but not as many as students know how nuclear weapons has threat our daily life, also the relationship between each country. During the event, I have gained more specific messages about how nuclear weapons has threat people in nowadays. It also links to the relationship between the countries actually have nuclear weapons and other countries still working on how to create their own nuclear weapons. In the seminar activity, we have playing the role that represent our country to negotiate to other countries and try to reach the agreements. I think it was fairly simple for us, as I represent my country that have already have our own nuclear weapons, we are reaching the agreement is we hope we will never be forced to using it. I found the interesting thing is when I negotiate with other people, I have actually thought more than the beginning. Individual perspective has a huge different compared with national perspective, that including diplomatic issues and sovereignty issues. I believe what I have impact other people is to think carefully about how to avoid using nuclear weapons. It is easy for everyone to say that we will never use nuclear weapons but besides, how we should used it as our safeguard when it links to national security issues. I am coming from a country that has experienced World War 1 and 2, and we have been defeated and we also have been victorious. The pain of the war has inflicted on our country has made us have different views of nuclear weapons. I belong to the community that is still developing and trying to make it perfection step by step. I believe I should get involved more lead event like this seminar to talked with different people under their own culture, then I should combine them together, to our communities gets better.
