Quote 1)
She was shouting, "What in fuck's name have you done to my dog?

In this quote we see Ms Shears scream at Christopher for killing her dog,

This is a perfect example of judging a book by its cover, by using the words "you" she aims the blame at Christopher when there is no proof he killed Wellington, Ms Shears also did not know Christopher had Aspergers and one of his issues is that he doesn't like loud noises or being yelled at, Ms Shears didn't know Christopher obtained Aspergers and she treated him just like anyone else which caused Christopher to feel frightened.

Quote 2)
The policeman looked at me for a while without speaking. Then he said, "I am arresting you for assaulting a police officer."

This made me feel a lot calmer because it is what policemen say on television and in films.

In this part of the novel as we read it we see the policeman act extremely harshly towards Christopher, further on i the text he reads "The policeman took hold of my arm and lifted me onto my feet, this is when I hit him". In a normal situation if you hit a police officer it is fair to be arrested, however this was no normal situation, it's clear to see the policeman did not take that the suspect (Christopher) may have had some sort of condition, which Christopher did, so when the policeman grabbed Christopher it made him feel extremely uncomfortable which then caused him to lash out and hit the police officer,

Quote 3)

Quote 1- And when I was asleep I had one of my favorite dreams… And in the dream nearly everyone on the earth is dead…”

Quote 2 -
"Sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm."

Quote 3 -
"I think people believe in heaven because they don't like the idea of dying, because they want to carry on living and they don't like the idea that other people will move into their house and put their things into the rubbish."

Explanation of Quote 2: Christopher is filled with many troubles that others and sometimes even he himself isn't aware of. This causes him to be unable to understand the emotional aspect of people he comes into contact with. For example christopher states "Sometimes when I want to be on my own I get into the airing cupboard in the bathroom and slide in beside the boiler and pull the door behind me and sit there and think for hours and it makes me feel very calm." This shows that christopher likes to take on his own problems without letting other people help him and he also at times takes things too literally by blocking people out of his life and hiding inside his bathroom cupboard

"So I went into his bedroom and opened up the cupboard and lifted the toolbox off the shirt box and opened the shirt box" Pg 130
Explanation: Christopher is going into his fathers cupboard in his room, even though he is not meant to, to find our more about the letters he had found in there. He found the letters in his fathers room because he was curious about what his father had done to his book that he was writing, whether his father had thrown it out or was hiding it from him.
"I decided that I was going to find out who killed Wellington even though father had told me to stay out of other people's business."

Don't judge a book by its cover

Quote 1: " she was shouting, "What in fucks name have you done to my dog?"

Explanation: This is an example of judging a book by its cover because she was automatically blaming Christopher, even though she didn't know who the killer was. she knew he has Aspergers and she. blamed Christopher because of his disability.

Quote 2: " I strongly advice that you get into the back of the police car because if you try and of that monkey business again, you little shit I'm going to seriously lose my rag is that understood?"

Explanation: This is an example of judging a book by its cover because the police officer did not know Christopher had Aspergers but he still managed to treat him like anyone else and have a go at him. He got angry at him even though he didn't know the back story to Christopher.

Quote 3: " And the man with the diamond patterns on his socks said , " Mad as a fucking hatter. Jesus"

Explanation: This is also a good example of judging a book by its cover as the stranger did not know Christopher but he still managed to judge him from what he saw, he didn't know or understand what Christopher was going through and who he is.
