Review and Clarify- The boy that Wiesel is talking about is his past self when he was being taken to his prison camp. This boy symbolizes Wiesel and what he was experiencing through this time as a little kid. He was full of questions and had no idea what was going on around him.
Essential Question- This speech has taught us that the past was way different. There was very little freedom in many places and we learned that many people that weren't Jewish felt that there was no wrong in the Holocaust and didn't go against it. Now, that would be violated right away and such a tragic event wouldn't have happened. It taught us that we should be thankful and it told us that one person could make a big difference in the world

1a. When Wiesel says, "Because if we forget, we are guilty, we are accomplices", he means that many Jews died in that time and we took no part in stopping the Holocaust. So if we forget about the people who died, then we too deserve to be shamed with what the Jews had to face.
1b. This statement reveals that he thought that others could have made an impact on the Holocaust and protested against it.
2.Wiesel's point of view is that every individual should just try and help the people in need. Everyone deserves the same freedom. He states that, "As long as one child is hungry, our lives will be filled with anguish and shame," (Wiesel, paragraph 12).
3a. Wiesel responds to other conflicts in the world by explaining that he views them as equal importance. He claims that know one needs to suffer and that he has faith in God and in his creation.
3b. The aspects Wiesel uses to differentiate his point of view from others is by giving many different examples of political violations around the world but connecting them by explaining the problem and explaining why the suffering needs to be stopped.
