I like the style of cross-hatching and want to develop a comic-style look in my work. The layered lines add texture and depth, especially when combined with strong shadows. I’m using this technique to give my creature designs a gritty, graphic feel, inspired by horror comics and sci-fi illustrations.

I started by drawing from primary sources, including my own cat and birds, focusing on fur, claws, feathers, and skulls. I also photographed a chicken spine to study structure and texture. These helped me explore how natural features could be fused in my hybrid creatures. I’ve also been inspired by Warhammer designs, especially the way organic parts are replaced with mechanical elements—this has influenced the direction of my drone-monster concept.

I got inspiration from Eldritch monsters, such as Cthulhu and Azathoth. I took the most inspiration from the moon presence.

I enjoy drawing eyes and often focus on them as the "windows to the soul." Even in my monster designs, I use the eyes to suggest a human aspect—showing that these creatures might still feel pain, fear, or anger. It’s a powerful way to show emotion and add depth to the character, making them more unsettling and believable.

I have been exploring colour to enhance the unsettling feel of my hybrid creature. I chose sickly greens to evoke decay and discomfort, while the use of blues and purples was inspired by the colours of bruising and trauma. These choices help create a sense of unease and reinforce the theme of fear and transformation. I have researched how artists and game designers use colour to suggest danger, illness, or corruption—particularly in character and creature design from Warhammer, horror games, and dystopian sci-fi. This has influenced how I apply colour in both my drawings and digital work

This a sketch about a creature which I drew long ears but it doesn't look menacing but a like weird looking rabbit. The outcome of the claws I was disappointed with because I'm not very good at drawing hands.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to draw. Originally started as a eye for a head but then I switched it to teeth for a head. Then added a second of teeth like sharks teeth. I took inspiration form the game Bendy and the Dark Revival from the brand new design of Bendy.
