The clock stopped... 74 minutes past 18...it was time to get up 

The soldier had been sleeping for a millennia, the sight of the destroyed city was his only vision. As he stepped out of the sleeping pod, he looked around him, the other pods were empty. His fellow soldiers must have already awoken, summoned to fight for an unknown cause. The smell of oil and rust filled his nostrils as he took his first step out of the bunker. It was nighttime, a vision of destroyed buildings and dead trees stretched out into the horizon. There was a broken asphalt road that passed through the hills, carved out by mortar shells leaving bare bedrock exposed. The slumbering soldier followed the path to a metal city, composed of scrap metal. The large doors were held together by pleated metal sheet. He stepped through the doors…
