The Gallipoli Campaign: Most of the allies attacked the region in the Ottoman Empire called the Dardanelles. The allies believed if overcome the Dardanelles they could block off the sea straight to attack more of the enemies. This became an aggressive war on both sides, when the allies evacuated there were around 250,000 casualties.

Battles in Africa and Asia: In Asia and Africa Germany's possessions had been under assault. Japanese overran Germany's outposts and pacific island colonies, the English and French troops attacked the Four African possessions, only three were able to be seized. Fighting troops as well as laborers came but died just as fast, others volunteered hoping the devotion would lead to independence.

America Joins the Fight: The wars now moved to high seas, Germany improved their submarines, making the warfare more intense than before. Their new unrestricted submarine policy had been attempted before but killed many.
American public was furious, therefore a protest from the president was sent out to no longer allow Germany to send out attacks on neutral ships, after two more attacks they agreed. Although Germans went back to their submarine a couple of years later for an advantage over their allies. American population had favored the allies, and had a bind with them. 1917, Congress declared war on Germany and the United States entered the war on the side of the Allies.
unrestricted submarine warfare: submarines would sink without warning

Governments Wage Total War: The war governments took over telling factories what to produce and how much to produce.Every civilian that was capable of working was working in some form. Although soon supplies started running out making rationing come into play, not only did governments turn to this but suppressed antiwar activity. The news about the war was often censored, because they feared people would turn on them and the government.
total war: countries devoted all their resources to the war effort

rationing: a system where people could buy only small amounts of those items that were also needed for the war effort.

propaganda: , one-sided information designed to persuade, to keep up morale

Women and the War: Due to the total war, women were looked at to help out.
