An interesting fact about Rome is that the Vatican Museums are one of the largest and most significant museum complexes in the world, located in Vatican City, Rome. Founded in 1506 by Pope Julius II, the museums house an extensive collection of art, sculptures, and treasures accumulated by the Catholic Church over the centuries. They are famous for their Renaissance masterpieces, including works by Michelangelo and Raphael, with the Sistine Chapel being a major highlight due to Michelangelo’s iconic ceiling. The museums also feature collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts, tapestries, maps, and Etruscan objects. Visiting the Vatican Museums offers a deep dive into the history of Western art, religion, and culture.

Fonte: Google

Aluna: Vitória Lourenço Tristão

1E

Paris is known for many tourist attractions, but there is one in particular that may surprise you: a huge underground passage: the Paris Catacombs. These catacombs are a network of underground tunnels that extend for around 300 km beneath the city of Paris. They were originally created in the late 18th century to solve the problem of overcrowding in the city's cemeteries, which was causing public health problems. The bones of around 6 million Parisians were transferred to the Catacombs and were stacked in an orderly manner in several sections. Today, the Paris Catacombs are a popular tourist attraction, despite being a somewhat strange or frightening experience.

Lára Evelyn 1A

Fonte: https://afrancesados.com/fatos-curiosos-paris/

Gabriele Amorth, who passed away in 2016, was the oldest and most famous exorcist in the Vatican. He really knew how to recognize a demon and claimed to have already had the opportunity to be face to face with the devil himself. According to his words: "Satan is pure spirit, although sometimes he seems like a furious animal". Using a ritual from the year 1614, by Pope Paul V, Armoth claims to have led the Devil under frightening circumstances.

In 2010 he made headlines, claiming that Satan was in the Vatican. And everything indicates that he didn't speak in the figurative sense. In his opinion, the scandals and corruption that ravaged the church in recent years had a direct relationship with the lord of the underworld, who was imprisoned there. Pope Paul VI even said something similar in 1972, claiming that "from somewhere, Satan's smoke entered the temple of God".

fonte: Google

Aluna: maria Eduarda margatto 1A

This represents 40% of the entire state of New York and means that one in every 38 people in the United States lives in it.

And it's not just a population of Americans. Not by far! More than 37% of New Yorkers were born in another country. Consequently, some experts claim that more than 800 languages are spoken in New York. In 1893, New Zealand women won this right, thanks to the work of activists like Kate Sheppard, who led a movement for gender equality. Today, Sheppard is such an important figure in the country's history that her image is featured on the New Zealand ten-dollar note.

Bhutan and neighbouring Tibet experienced the spread of Buddhism, which originated in the Indian subcontinent during the lifetime of Gautama Buddha. In the first millennium, the Vajrayana school of Buddhism spread to Bhutan from the southern Pala Empire of Bengal. During the 16th century, Ngawang Namgyal unified the valleys of Bhutan into a single state. Namgyal defeated three Tibetan invasions, subjugated rival religious schools, codified the Tsa Yig legal system, and established a government of theocratic and civil administrators. Namgyal became the first Zhabdrung Rinpoche and his successors acted as the spiritual leaders of Bhutan, like the Dalai Lama in Tibet. During the 17th century, Bhutan controlled large parts of northeast India, Sikkim and Nepal; it also wielded significant influence in Cooch Behar State.[18] Bhutan ceded the Bengal Duars to British India during the Bhutan War in the 19th century. The House of Wangchuck emerged as the monarchy and pursued closer ties with Britain in the subcontinent. In 1910, a treaty guaranteed British advice in foreign policy in exchange for internal autonomy in Bhutan. The arrangement continued under a new treaty with India in 1949 (signed at Darjeeling) in which both countries recognised each other's sovereignty. Bhutan joined the United Nations in 1971. It has since expanded relations with 55 countries. While dependent on the Indian military, Bhutan maintains its own military units.

Aluno: Gustavo Cassiano Sousa de Oliveira

Série: 1F

Professor: Dennys

Fonte: Wikipedia

LAND OF FIRE AND ICE Studies show that currently 11% of Iceland is covered by glaciers! Glaciers are one of Iceland's main attractions, and to date there are almost 269 names. Iceland is also home to Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajökull, which is equivalent to three times the size of Luxembourg. Active volcanoes often lie just below these glaciers. For such a small country, Iceland's continuous volcanic activity is an admirable force of nature. Volcanoes are so common throughout the country that approximately one volcano erupts every three to four years. Therefore, Iceland is considered the land of fire and ice. When these volcanoes erupt, some rivers form, thanks to the hot lava that instantly melts the upper part of the glacier under which it hides.

The country has one of the longest histories of any nation, tracing its heritage to the 6th or 4th millennium BC. Considered a cradle of civilization, Ancient Egypt saw some of the earliest developments in writing, agriculture, urbanization, organized religion, and central government. Iconic monuments such as the Giza Necropolis and its Great Sphinx, as well as the ruins of Memphis, Thebes, Carnaque and the Valley of the Kings, reflect this legacy and continue to be a significant focus of scientific, historical and tourist interest. Egypt's long and rich cultural heritage is an integral part of its national identity, which has often assimilated various foreign influences such as Greeks, Persians, Romans, Arabs, Ottomans and Nubians. Egypt was one of the first and important centers of Christianity, but it was largely Islamized in the 7th century and remains a predominantly Muslim country, although with a significant Christian minority. Located in southwestern Bolivia, near cities such as Uyuni and Potosí, it is about 12,000 km² long and is 3,600 m high. This salt plain was formed in a slow process; thousands of years ago there were lakes in this region, the water from the lakes then evaporated and resulted in the landscape in the desert that is seen today.

The landscape of the place is incredible, it's like a white sea as far as our vision can reach. The white of the floor is so strong that without sunglasses it is even difficult to see. With an area of approximately 4,000 km², its geography is characterized by mountains, plains and a jagged coastline. The island is famous for its extraordinary biodiversity, home to around 1,000 species of plants, of which more than 30% are endemic. Among the most notable is the Dracaena cinnabari, or dragon's blood tree, which is notable for its red resin.

Socotra is also home to several species of birds and marine animals, making it a focal point for researchers and ecologists. Its ecological diversity is the result of millions of years of geographic isolation.

Culturally, the island has a population of around 60,000 inhabitants, with its own traditions and language, Sosroti. The Socotrian way of life is deeply connected to nature and fishing, reflecting a rich cultural heritage.

In 2008, Socotra Island was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing its ecological and cultural importance. Salvador, the capital, is often called “Black Rome” because it is one of the largest centers of Afro-Brazilian culture, where African traditions brought by the enslaved resist and reinvent themselves. Another interesting fact is that the famous “Lacerda elevator”, opened in 1873, was the first urban elevator in the world, connecting Cidade Baixa and Cidade Alta.

Switzerland is a country located in the heart of Europe, known for its stunning landscape, with the majestic mountains of the Alps, crystal-clear lakes, and picturesque villages. In addition to its natural beauty, Switzerland is famous for its political neutrality, having not participated in world wars, and for being home to various international organizations, such as the Red Cross and the United Nations. Interestingly, Switzerland has four official languages: German, French, Italian, and Romansh. The country is also renowned for its high quality of life, safety, precision watchmaking, and, of course, its world-famous Swiss chocolates. Another interesting fact is that the Swiss have a system of direct democracy, where citizens can vote on important national decisions several times a year.

Sâmua Raissa

Maria Luiza Neres

1E

It is one of the most famous bridges in the world, known for its unique design and historical significance. Built between 1886 and 1894, Tower Bridge crosses the River Thames and connects the northern and southern parts of London.

The bridge has two impressive towers, connected by walkways, which allow visitors to enjoy breathtaking views of the city and the river below. The bridge's bascules (the parts that lift) still open today to let large ships pass, showing the blend of Victorian engineering and modern functionality.

One of the reasons we chose Tower Bridge is its fascinating history and how it represents London’s innovation. Visiting the Tower Bridge Exhibition, which is inside the bridge, allows you to learn more about how it was built and how it operates. For us, this attraction stands out not only for its beauty but also for its engineering marvel.

In conclusion, Tower Bridge is a must-see for anyone visiting London, offering both a historical and educational experience, as well as stunning views of

the city.

Teacher: Dennys

Students 1E : Geovana Helena

Yuri Machado

Isabella

Sarah samya

Italy is a country in Southern Europe, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and contributions to art, science, and cuisine. It occupies the Italian Peninsula and includes several islands, such as Sicily and Sardinia. The capital, Rome, is one of the most historically significant cities in the world, once the center of the Roman Empire. It also hosts the Vatican, the spiritual center of the Catholic Church, with landmarks like St. Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel.

### History

Italy's history is deeply tied to the Roman Empire, which ruled much of Europe and the Mediterranean for centuries, leaving a lasting influence on law, governance, architecture, and language. After the fall of the Roman Empire in the 5th century AD, Italy became a collection of city-states and kingdoms, including influential cities like Venice, Florence, and Milan. During the Renaissance, these cities were pivotal in shaping modern Western art, philosophy, and science, with figures like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo at the forefront.

Italy was unified as a nation only in 1861, under the leadership of figures like Giuseppe Garibaldi and Count Cavour. It became a republic after World War II, having previously been a monarchy. Today, Italy is a democratic parliamentary republic.

### Geography

Italy is known for its diverse landscapes, which include mountain ranges like the Alps and Apennines, fertile plains, rolling hills, and beautiful coastlines along the Mediterranean Sea. Famous natural landmarks include the Amalfi Coast, the lakes in the north (such as Lake Como and Lake Garda), and Mount Etna, one of the most active volcanoes in the world, located in Sicily.

The country shares borders with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. It also surrounds two independent states: Vatican City and San Marino.

### Culture

Italy has a profound cultural influence, particularly in art, architecture, fashion, and cuisine. The Italian Renaissance, which began in the 14th century in cities like Florence, marked the beginning of a cultural revival in Europe. Italian artists like Michelangelo, Raphael, and Botticelli created masterpieces that still define Western art. In literature, Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy is one of the most important works in Western literature.

Fashion is another key element of Italian culture, with Milan being one of the global fashion capitals, home to major brands like Gucci, Prada, and Versace.

Italian cuisine is world-famous, with iconic dishes such as pasta, pizza, risotto, and gelato. The country is also known for its wine, particularly from regions like Tuscany, Piedmont, and Sicily.

### Economy

Italy has a highly developed economy, being one of the largest in the world. It is a founding member of the European Union and the Eurozone. Key sectors include manufacturing, particularly in automobiles (Ferrari, Fiat), fashion, machinery, and chemicals. Tourism also plays a major role, with millions visiting Italy each year to experience its historic cities, art, and cuisine.

### Government

Italy is a parliamentary republic, with a President as the head of state and a Prime Minister as the head of government. The Parliament consists of two chambers: the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Italy has a multi-party system, with frequent coalitions forming to govern. It is also a member of international organizations like the United Nations, NATO, and the European Union.

### Major Cities

- Rome: The capital, rich in history and home to ancient Roman ruins, the Vatican, and countless monuments.

- Milan: A global fashion and financial hub.

- Florence: The cradle of the Renaissance, known for its art and architecture.

- Venice: Famous for its canals, historic buildings, and cultural significance.

- Naples: Known for its rich history and as the birthplace of pizza.

### Tourism

Italy is one of the most visited countries in the world. Tourists flock to its historical cities like Rome, Florence, and Venice, as well as its scenic coastlines like the Amalfi Coast and Cinque Terre. Cultural and religious tourism is also significant, with many visiting the Vatican and historic churches.

In short, Italy’s influence on global culture, history, and lifestyle is profound, making it one of the most admired and visited countries in the world.

tiago gonçalves 1D

Jeju Island, the most famous of South Korea’s islands in Asia, is known as the Island of the Gods. Jeju is a volcanic island located in the country’s smallest province, which proves that size doesn’t matter, as the beauty of the place contrasts with its small size. It is frequently visited by Koreans during vacations and holidays and is the top destination for honeymoons. The peak season is between July and August, the summer in South Korea.

According to legend, Jeju was founded by three brothers who created an independent kingdom called Tamna. Unlike today, Jeju was rarely visited, and during the Joseon era, it served as a place of exile for over 200 people. Having spent so many years almost isolated from Korea, unlike Busan, the island developed its own culture, traditions, and even dialect. Its lava tubes have been designated a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site.

So, you can already imagine the beauty and importance. The island is the perfect place for hiking through the mountains, interacting with animals, nature, and disconnecting from the outside world. Jeju is home to the highest point in South Korea: Hallasan Mountain.

At the summit, there is also a crater where a lake with crystal-clear waters has formed. It’s breathtakingly beautiful! The famous Lava Tunnels were formed when the volcano was still active. As a result, 120 caves were created, offering not only fun but also plenty of scientific material for geological studies. The Manjang Caves are located in the northeastern part of the island.

Leaving Jeju without falling in love with the island is almost impossible. Even a brief look at this place full of legends, culture, and tradition is enough to understand why it’s called the Island of the Gods.

For those who come with stereotypical images of Korea in mind, it may be a pleasant surprise to discover a place so distinct from the rest of the country, yet one that helps tell the story of South Korea. Without a doubt, anyone who visits Jeju Island once will always want to return—and for good reason.

Alunos:

Ana Luiza Borges 1B

Danielly Christina 1B

Filipe Augusto 1B

Raíssa Bellard 1B

Fonte:

https://www.queroviajarmais.com/ilha-de-jeju-coreia-do-sul/

Las Vegas, located in the Mojave Desert of Nevada, is one of the most famous cities in the world, known for its vibrant entertainment scene, casinos, and luxurious resorts. Founded in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911, Las Vegas originally grew as a railroad town, but its modern fame began in the mid-20th century when it became a hotspot for gambling, entertainment, and tourism.

### The Las Vegas Strip

The most iconic area of Las Vegas is "The Strip," a 4.2-mile (6.8 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard lined with massive casino-resorts, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Each resort often has a unique theme, like the Egyptian-themed Luxor, the Venetian, which recreates Venice's canals, or the Paris Las Vegas with its replica Eiffel Tower. The Strip is also famous for its neon lights and spectacular fountain shows, like the Bellagio’s choreographed water display.

### Casinos and Gambling

Las Vegas is synonymous with gambling. The city's economy has been built around its casinos, where visitors can play a wide range of games, including slot machines, poker, blackjack, and roulette. The city is home to some of the most famous casinos in the world, like Caesars Palace, The Bellagio, MGM Grand, and The Venetian. While gambling is a major draw, these resorts also offer luxury accommodations, fine dining, shopping, and entertainment.

### Entertainment

Beyond gambling, Las Vegas is renowned for its world-class entertainment. It hosts resident shows by some of the biggest names in music and entertainment, including Celine Dion, Elton John, and Cirque du Soleil, which has multiple resident shows across the city. Concerts, magic shows, comedy acts, and performances by global artists are a daily staple in Las Vegas.

### Tourism

Las Vegas attracts over 40 million visitors annually. It is not only a destination for leisure but also a major hub for conventions and business tourism, with large venues like the Las Vegas Convention Center. Major annual events like CES (Consumer Electronics Show) bring thousands of professionals to the city.

### Nearby Attractions

While most people associate Las Vegas with its casinos and nightlife, the area also offers stunning natural attractions. Red Rock Canyon is a short drive away and offers hiking, rock climbing, and scenic drives through dramatic red sandstone formations. The Hoover Dam, an engineering marvel built on the Colorado River, is another popular tourist destination nearby. Visitors also use Las Vegas as a base for exploring the Grand Canyon, located a few hours away.

### History and Development

Las Vegas grew rapidly in the mid-1900s, thanks in part to the legalization of gambling in Nevada in 1931. The city's growth was fueled by its proximity to Los Angeles, the construction of the Hoover Dam, and the influence of organized crime, which played a major role in the development of its early casinos. In recent decades, however, the city has evolved to focus more on family-friendly entertainment and luxury tourism, with a boom in upscale resorts, restaurants, and shopping.

### Economy

The economy of Las Vegas is primarily driven by tourism, gaming, and conventions. It is also home to a significant hospitality industry, with many of the world's largest hotels located there. The city's economy relies heavily on the millions of tourists who visit each year to gamble, attend conventions, and enjoy the entertainment.

### Climate

Las Vegas has a desert climate, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures in the summer can exceed 100°F (38°C), while winter temperatures are generally mild, ranging from 40-60°F (4-15°C). Despite the heat, Las Vegas is a year-round destination thanks to its indoor attractions and air-conditioned resorts.

### Fun Fact

Las Vegas is known as "The Wedding Capital of the World," with over 300 weddings taking place daily in the city. Many couples are drawn to the city's quick and easy marriage process, with a variety of wedding chapels offering everything from simple ceremonies to elaborate themed weddings.

In summary, Las Vegas is a global icon of entertainment, gambling, and tourism. With its lavish resorts, world-class shows, and unique desert location, it remains one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.

Maria clara Rodrigues e jullya alves 1D

Monaco is a small principality located on the Mediterranean coast in Western Europe. With an area of just 2.02 square kilometers, it is one of the smallest countries in the world, but it is famous for its luxury and wealth. Monaco is known for its impressive architecture, including the Prince's Palace, where the royal family resides, and the Casino de Monte Carlo, which attracts visitors from all over the world in search of entertainment and gambling. Monaco's economy is driven mainly by tourism and the service sector, especially in the financial sector. The principality has no income tax, which makes it an attractive destination for millionaires and companies. In addition, Monaco is famous for hosting the Formula 1 Grand Prix, one of the most prestigious races in the world, which takes place in the city's narrow streets. ### Fun fact An interesting fact about Monaco is that, despite its small area, the country is home to around 38,000 inhabitants, and the population density is one of the highest in the world. The principality also does not have an airport; visitors usually arrive via Nice Airport in France and then take a short drive or train ride to Monaco.

Aluno: Marcos Daniel 1E
