4.	What have you found most inspiring about the person you have studied and how have they challenged your own worldview?

The most inspiring thing that I have found out about Nelson Mandela is that he was once in a very dark place like getting locked up in jail and killing people, but those things that he did in his past didn’t change his perspective on his dreams nor beliefs and this is what stood out to me because he may have thought about dong evil things when he was younger, but then once he got his head in the right place he acted upon it himself and this is what allowed him to become president and this is what really stood out to me. Change can be hard for some people and it was surely hard for Nelson because if he ever wanted to become president of South Africa then he would have to change substantially. By doing this it showed to me that he had incredible determination and a will to change and to me this is something you have to respect him for because some people would just stay as they are and never change so their brains are never tested or pushed to the limits.

3. Compare and contrast their worldview with the prevailing worldview of their own culture at the time?

Nelson Mandela was a Christian, so his worldview was that he would nonviolence, family, being humble and forgiveness. He had this worldview from when he was younger because his whole family was Christian, and this is what gave him his worldview. Once Nelson was made president he made his worldview known and that other people should be like this because a nonviolent country is a safe one and having a humble and caring country allows people to work in harmony and allows people to feel safe where they are. Nelsons culture also believe and have the same worldview as him, I believe this is what allowed him to connect with his people, because they could relate in so many different ways. Nelson had always respected religion and was always open to listening other peoples worldviews and so people would feel comfortable talking to him about their ideas and opinions.

2.	Evaluate to what extent they are truly radical

Nelson Mandela’s work has allowed the following politicians and people of Africa to think of another instead of just thinking of themselves because then you can make someone’s day a lot better than it may already be, this can then influence that person to help another person and then before you know it the whole community will be helping each other because they would believe that how life should be. He has allowed people to be more open minded and therefore that then allows people to share their ideas and this can then influence people not to be scared of sharing their ideas and won’t be scared being upset by agreement or disagreement because clearly there would have been people who would have had their own opinions. Nelson always had an extensive view and was always open to take the new information from his country and this is what really made him influence his country.

The way nelson Mandela challenged the status quo was working with communists which allowed him to have an insight into what people in his country were going and how badly he had to act upon this because if he didn’t then he would become as good president as he would continually tell his country. It wasn’t easy fighting for what was right for Nelsons country.

Nelson Mandela was fighting for what he believed was right for his county and sadly was not what the government believed was right, so the government had many attempts of trying to stop Nelson from building his rebellion, by this his people would recognize that he would put himself on the line for his country because that’s was he believed his country should do to their neighbors, friend and family. Nelson Mandela fought for many things that would make him a target for people like the press government and many other news agencies that would want to destroy his ego and his human rights as a person. The media would sometimes make up stories of him and therefore trash his name so that people of south Africa would have doubts about him and what he was doing instead of looking at what good he was doing for them.

1.	You need to give some background information and the essence of why this person is revered as a ‘Truly Radical Change Agent’

Nelson Mandela was the South African president and during his time as president he did many things that would make him a truly radical agent. Some of the things that he did whilst being president were that he created the truth and reconciliation commission which focused on human rights in Africa, this put nelson on the good side of Africa because before the people were disrespected which then lead to a corrupted government. Nelson Mandela wanted to change this though, and he succeeded. Nelson also gave the people of Africa schools, housing and many other mandatory things they the people couldn’t afford or didn’t have access to. Everything was going well for nelson due to his involvement with his country, the people of Africa were truly beginning to believe that he was going to be the man that would cure and save Africa.

Nelson Mandela wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows, he was once charged for act of public violence and being linked to the 1983 Church St car bomb that killed 19 people. He was jailed for up to 27 years but once freed knew that he had to change not just for him but for the good of the people, especially if he had ideas of becoming a president. Nelson was put on the national terrorist watch list because of the car bomb back in 1983. When Nelson was young his family didn’t have a lot of money therefore he would have to steal or do things to get what he so desperately needed, this is what people believed to be was what turned Nelson to the streets of robbing and murder.
