- They were able to clearly see the economic opportunities of all the countries they colonialised, helping them obtain the most profit from their colonies as they new what they wanted to do with each country to make more profit.
- They were driven by competition from other European powers, and desired to attain more power. (Determined and focus on their goal of building their empire.)
Was Britain worried about the German Empire? Why or why not?
- No, not really. They were more afraid of the French. And from WWI we can also see that the Germans were the ones who were jealous of the British empire and empire. So the British had little reason to fear the Germans.
- On the other hand, the British ended up fearing the Germans as they threatened their economy and imperial supremacy through their domination during WWI.

2. Wilhelm II felt that Germany needed to assert itself more on the world stage and show other powers that it was also a great power. He was also concerned about the threat of “encirclement” posed by Britain, France and Russia.
3. Wilhelm II looked for ways to Germany to assert itself on the world stage, hence, he was focused on building a navy. Britain and France decided to expand their military as well.
