Sir Gawain's return, according to Brittin

In the tale of Sir Gawain, he is faced with many challenges such as shame, battle, and his honor. After facing these challenges, he must face several more awaiting for him during his return to the Castle of Camelot and its noble nights. He has shown the knights at Camelot of their evil and cowardly ways, and, showing them the girdle, told the story of how his honesty had failed and was able to prevent them from making his mistakes. The token he acquired from his quest was, of course, the green girdle. He knew now, that all of the knights would never make similar failings if they always have their girdles, for they would be reminded of Sir Gawain, and in that moment humbled. If Sir Gawain hadn’t kept the girdle to show to his fellow knights then they likely would forget the great epic of Sir Gawain and fall victim to pride’s evil grasp.
